It’s a special day when someone whose project our club has supported, and whom we previously honoured with a Paul Harris Recognition, decides to join our Rotary family! 💙💛

We thought we knew quite a bit about our newest member, Troy Thompson, but his classification talk gave us an even deeper look into his life and story. Hearing from Troy reaffirmed that welcoming him into our club was absolutely the right choice!

Thank you, Troy, for sharing your story and allowing us to get to know you better. We’re so happy you’ve joined us, and look forward to all the wonderful things we’ll share and accomplish together!

Saturday was another busy day for with Rotary e-Club Premier 7040 and friends sorting and salvaging fruits and vegetables. We were also happy to honour the longtime commitment of one of the Rotary volunteers to this endeavour. The delivery of a load of fresh produce to topped off a great day!

Thank you to everyone who supported our annual Rotary 'Mums for Thanksgiving fundraiser. Your support helps us to provide a variety of opportunities for our youth and community organizations.. Our members enjoyed delivering the plants and meeting many of the happy recipients.

2,200+ mums delivered… and we still made it to this week’s meeting!

And we’re SO happy we did!

Wednesday morning, we were joined by Kat Rendek, Economic Development Officer, SDG Counties Planning & Economic Development Services, and Carilyne Hébert, Engagement and Navigation Lead with the Great River Ontario Health Team.

They gave us an insightful look at the collaborative work happening across our region to tackle the healthcare workforce crisis — and the message was encouraging: there’s real momentum, collaboration and a path forward!

So, what can we do to help?

3. Offer to volunteer to give tours once they are ready to launch their tour packages.

4. Volunteer to be their models in upcoming photoshoots. They will be out and about with their photographer on the morning of October 28th in Cornwall. If anyone is available and interested, please let them know!

Healthcare is something that touches every one of us, and building a strong healthcare workforce takes a community-wide effort.

A big thank you to Kat and Carilyne for joining us, sharing their expertise and giving us a better understanding of how we can each help support this important initiative.

A very special Rotary meeting was held this Wednesday morning!

And it was one of our favourite kinds of club meetings — we had the absolute honour of inducting TWO new members! And, as you can imagine, it was a full house for such a special occasion!

Membership Chair Georges Levere, with the help of fellow members, welcomed Sonya Quesnel and Troy Thompson into our Rotary family and introduced them to some of the things that make our club and Rotary so special — including the Four-Way Test, the history of our club, and Rotary’s Seven Areas of Focus.

But perhaps the most important message was this:

We are a group of people with different backgrounds, different experiences and different interests — but we have chosen to come together because we believe that, together, we can make a difference.

So, Sonya and Troy… we’re confident that you’ll each find YOUR place, discover or bring something YOU’RE passionate about, and, most importantly, have plenty of fun and fellowship along the way!

Please join us in giving Sonya and Troy a very warm Rotary welcome!

Again, on this past Saturday, Rotarians from Rotary Club Cornwall-Sunrise and Rotary e-Club Premier 7040 and friends were busy salvaging some excellent produce. We are happy to report that some of this produce was delivered to The Agape Centre.
