Our September Peer Support Group Calendar is here! 💙

A new month brings new opportunities to connect, reflect, and grow together. Whether you're looking for understanding, encouragement, or a safe space to share your experiences, our peer support groups are here to meet you where you are.

Throughout September, we'll explore meaningful conversations around:

💙 Week One: Avoidance
💙 Week Two: Feeling Safe
💙 Week Three: Values
💙 Week Four: Communication
💙 Week Five: Anger

This month, we're also hosting our Family Workshop, a space for families to connect, learn, and explore ways to support themselves and loved ones with mental health, substance use health, and addiction issues.

Each group is guided by trained Peer Supporters with lived experience and offers a welcoming, judgment-free space where everyone is treated with empathy, respect, and hope.

Peer Support Groups:
📍 In-Person: 70 The Blvd., St. John's (no registration required)
💻 Virtual: Email [email protected] to receive the meeting link.

Whatever September brings, you don't have to face it alone. We're here, and there's always a place for you at Lifewise. 💙

Mark your calendars! Take Back the Night is taking place September 18th!

This year we are partnering with The Journey Project to bring a full evening of events to you.

Photovoice is a creative way for survivors of sexual violence and intimate partner violence to share their experiences and perspectives through photography.

Through JUSTICE REFRAMED: a photo journey, survivors across Newfoundland and Labrador were invited to express their stories, build community, and create a visual journey that is now being shared as a travelling photography exhibit throughout the province. Justice Reframed will be in Corner Brook at the Rotary Arts Centre from September 18-27.

Following the launch we will host our Rally and March to bring awareness to and seek an end to sexual violence. This year's Sexual Violence Awareness Week
theme, Rooted in Belonging, recognizes that preventing sexual violence and supporting healing begins with building communities where everyone feels they truly belong.
When people experience genuine belonging, they are more likely to look out for one another, respect boundaries, speak up when something isn't right, and seek support when they need it. Including those who have caused harm and are ready to take responsibility. Belonging creates the conditions for accountability, healing, and safer communities.

Are NL residents experiencing TFGBV? What are the impacts?

We used a province-wide survey and 11 focus groups to provide an overview of NL residents' experiences with TFGBV.

Our research found that NL residents, especially women and gender-diverse people, are experiencing TFGBV and face barriers to getting help. TFGBV survivors require more mental health resources, education, and legal options or support.

So happy to be able to support the local She-Can Soccer camp again this year. In addition to our financial donation, we dropped off stress balls, lip balms and bubble wands.
Congratulations to the organizers for all their hard work encouraging girls to say in sport and for all the participants in attending. Research shows that girls who stay in sports gain valuable leadership and life skills that continue to benefit them for years to come.
