We’ve gone back to our roots with our new name – Kinsight. We are all connected through a shared vision to create a world where Everyone’s welcome. Everywhere.

Kinsight is an accredited not-for-profit, charitable organization that has been serving the communities of New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra since 1954. It pays tribute to the families who founded our organization more than 60 years ago, and it underscores our vision for the future. You knew us as the Simon Fraser Society for Community Living, and while our name has changed, our commitment to you, our families, and our community has not. “Family” is at the core of what we do. To us, that extends to the children, youth and adults we work with, our employees, our partners and the communities and businesses that we support and are supported by. Everyone belongs. Led by consultants from Kinsight’s Supported Child Development (SCD) and Infant Development Program (IDP), this weekly playgroup offers tailored activities in a nurturing environment where children (ages 0-6) can thrive at their own pace.

On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities. This day is an opportunity to deepen our commitment to learning, truth, and reconciliation.

Yesterday, Kinsight staff gathered to watch "We Were Children," a powerful film that shares the experiences of two residential school Survivors and highlights the devasting and lasting effects of the residential school system. Together, we listened, learned, and shared our reflections.

In just a few sessions, you'll gain:

✅ Greater clarity and confidence in setting strength-based goals
✅ Practical tools and strategies to help navigate services

"I realized how much I love connecting with other parents and helping people with the knowledge I have," shares a recent parent participant.

We invite parents and caregivers of children with extra support needs up to 8 years old to join us this October for this hybrid offering. Please plan to attend all three sessions to get the most out of the program.

⭐️ As part of our 72nd anniversary week, Kinsight is participating in the New West Spotlight newsletter's “How Well Do You Know New West?” game from September 24th to 30th.

Founded in New Westminster in 1954, Kinsight has deep roots in this community. For more than seven decades, we've worked alongside individuals and families of children, youth, and adults to support growth, development, and personal wellbeing.

That's why we're joining the "How Well Do You Know New West?" community challenge. This week-long activity encourages people to explore New West businesses and support their local community.

September 9th marks International FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) Day. Today, we wear red shoes – a symbol first popularized by self-advocate RJ Formanek to make visible a disorder that is largely invisible.

This year's theme is "Everyone Plays a Part: It Takes a Community." Each of us has a role to play in creating a more inclusive, understanding environment where individuals with FASD can lead happy, fulfilling lives. ❤️

On August 16th, Kinsight set up at Port Moody's Car-Free Day. Our team had a fantastic time meeting community members, soaking up the sun, and giving out temporary tattoos. ☀️

A big thank you to the Port Moody Foundation for featuring Kinsight on their Community Wheel! The wheel highlighted local nonprofits and gave attendees the chance to win prizes while supporting organizations making a difference. The nonprofit with the most spins will also receive a generous donation from the Foundation. We're grateful for your support!
