🏒💙 Stocked and ready for another hockey season! 💙🏒

Sammy’s Gear Up Equipment Room is once again stocked with gently used hockey gear, ready to help get more kids on the ice this season. ❤️

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated equipment to us. Whether it was one piece of gear or an entire bag, every donation makes a difference and helps us continue Sam’s wish that everyone gets the chance to play.

We also want to give an extra special thank you to Northeast Eagles for the incredible donation of equipment. Their continued support of Sammy’s Climb Higher Foundation, year after year, means so much to us. From equipment donations to fundraisers and everything in between, they are always there supporting our mission, and we are incredibly grateful. 💙

📍 Sammy’s Gear Up Equipment Room is located at Robert French Memorial Stadium in Conception Bay South and is open whenever the stadium is open.

The gear is free for anyone who needs it — no application, no questions asked.

Thank you to our community for continuing to donate, support and help us make sure more kids can get out there and play. 🏒

🏒 Hockey season is here! 🏒

With hockey starting this weekend for many associations, lots of players will be pulling out their gear for the first time in months… and realizing just how much they’ve grown! 😅

Sammy’s Gear Up Equipment Room will open Sunday, September 13 and will be ready to help! 💙

If your child has outgrown a piece of gear or you’re missing something for the upcoming season, stop by and see what we have. All gently used equipment in the room is FREE for the taking 🏒

📍 Robert French Memorial Stadium, Conception Bay South
🚪 The room is accessible whenever the stadium is open - Robert Fremch Memorial Stadium will open on Sunday, September 13.

And if you have gently used hockey equipment your family has outgrown, we’re always grateful for donations to help keep the room stocked for the next player.

Some people and businesses have been there from the very beginning, and Seal Cove Grocery is one of them. 💙

Since the earliest days of Sammy’s Climb Higher Foundation, they have supported every fundraiser we’ve held and continued to show up for us year after year.

That kind of unwavering community support means more than we can ever properly put into words. We are so grateful to Seal Cove Grocery for believing in our mission and supporting the work we do in Sam’s memory 💙🩵

Please help us return some of that support! 🙏
Share this post, spread the word, and show Seal Cove Grocery some love. Supporting the local businesses that support our community is one small way we can say THANK YOU for everything they do.

Thank you, Seal Cove Grocery, for being part of our journey from the very beginning. ❤️

⚠️ A plea: As most are aware but maybe not all, this 55+ year old successful, family-run store is not promised tomorrow. THE BRIDGE ON SEAL COVE ROAD THAT CONNECTS US TO ALL OTHER PARTS OF THE ENTIRETY OF CBS HAS BEEN OUT OF COMMISSION SINCE MAY 4, 2026. RESTORATION TIME IS “EARLY WINTER”…

Although we are still accessible via a detour, we understand that people don’t want to burn extra gas and take extra time and to go out of their way when they could just get on Peacekeeprs Way and go to Sobeys and the corporate liquor store in Long Pond.

The bridge is now expected to be completed in December. Not to be negative, but realistic, it’s likely to be well into 2027 before the bridge is completed. This will no doubt run us into the ground.

💡 Imagine there being a huge hole on Fowler’s Road for a full year making it impassible! A non-thoroughfare on Fowler’s Road? For a year? It just wouldn’t happen.

Please see Town of Conception Bay South posts on this matter/their timeline in the comments.

We have reached out to The Town of CBS. It has been 2 weeks now and no response.

A lot of blood, sweat and tears have gone into this place since we (Thomas, Kristen & Brody (8)) took over this “Mom ‘n Pop Shop’ over 5 years ago. To have it slowly slip away from us is really hard to put into words. This store is like our second child.

We thought we could survive missing our busy Summer period. Now for our busy Christmas period to also be gone….well that’s our bread and butter gone for the year. Small, independent businesses simply can’t miss the Summer and Christmas rushes.

Our plea is that when and/or if you are able, please come visit us. We simply need people coming in through the door.

We are open Labour Day Monday.
We have everything you need under one roof.

Take care and thank you to our loyal customers who make the trek through the detour to see us. Please share, like or comment. We are at our wits end and we don’t know what to do.

There is a bond between grieving families that no one would ever choose to be part of, but within it comes an understanding that is difficult to put into words. ❤️

We are incredibly proud to support the JD Trainor Foundation, created to carry JD’s beautiful legacy forward. In his memory, the foundation will support families navigating childhood cancer while also helping local children get the opportunity to play hockey—two causes that are so deeply connected to JD and the life he lived.

We’ve had the privilege of getting to know JD’s mom, Christina. There is a special kind of comfort in connecting with another mom who understands just how important it is to keep saying our boys’ names, sharing their stories, and finding ways to pour all the love we still have for them into helping others.

We wish with everything in us that foundations like ours never had to exist in memory of our children. But since they do, we are honoured to stand alongside JD’s family as they make sure his name, his story, and the incredible love surrounding him continue to make a difference. ❤️

The JD Trainor Foundation was created to honour the life and legacy of our son J.D. by giving back to others in times of need. Our goal will be to help families affected by childhood cancer and help support the youth in our community to play hockey.

💙 Kindness has the power to change a life.

At Sammy's Climb Higher Foundation, we believe that one small act of kindness can create a ripple effect far greater than we may ever realize.

Our friends at Team Jake Forever have launched Jake's Force Day, with a heartfelt goal of inspiring 1,111 acts of kindness in Jake's memory. It's a beautiful reminder that although a child's life may be far too short, their impact can continue to shine through the love and kindness of others.

We encourage our community to visit their page, learn about Jake's story, and consider taking part. Whether it's lending a hand, checking in on a friend, or simply offering a smile, every act of kindness helps keep Jake's light shining.

Because saying their names matters. Remembering them matters. And choosing kindness in their honour matters.

Together, let's help spread Jake's light. 💙

In loving memory of my son, Jake, who passed away on November 2, 2024 at the age of 11, we began an annual Jake's Force Day on November 2, 2025. Jake was our Jedi. In Star Wars, there’s a beautiful belief that when someone passes, they become one with the Force — their light, energy, and love fl...

We are so proud to support our friends at the Love, Lincoln Foundation. 💙

Their Fore the Love of Lincoln Golf Classic is just around the corner, and their 50/50 draw is live! Every ticket purchased helps create opportunities for children across our province while giving you a chance to take home an incredible cash prize.

The work being done in Lincoln's memory is inspiring, and we're honoured to stand alongside a foundation that shares the same belief we do—that every child deserves the chance to play, belong, and thrive.

💙 With heavy hearts, everyone at Sammy’s Climb Higher Foundation extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, teammates, coaches, and entire sporting community mourning the loss of Alex Dawe.

When a young athlete is lost so suddenly, the heartbreak reaches far beyond one family. It is felt in locker rooms, on fields and rinks, in schools, and throughout an entire community.

Having lost Sam in the same manner, we know all too well the shock, heartbreak, and unimaginable grief that Alex’s family and those closest to him are facing. We know there are no words that can make sense of a loss like this.

Our hearts are with Alex’s family, his teammates, his sporting friends, and everyone whose life was touched by him. In the days, months, and years ahead, we hope they feel the love and strength of the community surrounding them.

We are asking our community to place a hockey stick outside in memory of Alex. Let’s line our doorsteps, porches, and driveways with sticks as a quiet show of love and support for his family and everyone mourning this tremendous loss. 💙🏒

May Alex’s memory live on in every game played, every story shared, and every person who carries him with them.

Our deepest sympathies to everyone who loved Alex. 💙

It was an honor to present the Sammy’s Climb Higher Award yesterday at Admiral’s Academy.
This award is presented to a student graduating from our school and has continually worked to their fullest potential, striving for academic success but also demonstrating manners, courtesy, and above all - kindness.

This year, we were especially honored to present the award to Dorian Eddy, a young man who holds a very special place in our hearts. His resilience, strength, and determination in the face of challenges have inspired so many, and he truly embodies what it means to keep climbing higher.

We couldn't be prouder of you, Dorian. Keep believing in yourself, chasing your dreams, and showing the world the incredible strength that lies within you. The future is bright, and we can't wait to see all that you'll accomplish. 💙✨

💙🏒 With heavy hearts, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, teammates, and loved ones of Stacey-Lynn Kenny and her dad, Corey.

There are no words for a loss so heartbreaking. As a foundation built in memory of a child, we know how precious every moment is and how deeply a young life can touch so many.

While our hearts are with those left behind, we are sure Stacey is lacing up her skates alongside so many other all-stars gone too soon — getting ready to play the biggest hockey game of them all.

Please know that our thoughts, prayers, and love are with everyone grieving this heartbreaking loss.

Fly high, Stacey and Corey. ❤️🏒
