On Thursday, 08 October 2026 PORT AUGUSTA participated in a Citizenship Tour of the HMCS ALBERNI Museum & Memorial (HAMM) in Courtenay, BC. Cadets received an informative tour of the Museum, including the history of the ALBERNI and about some of the crew member aboard that vessel by our very own CI Sackett.

As many may know, the HAMM is closing their doors to the public as of 11 November 2026 as they search for a new location to set-up, so this is the last chance for our cadets to conduct this annual visit.

On Tuesday, 13 October 2026 PORT AUGUSTA cadets participated in our bi-annual PHASE Training. Cadets in these photos were acting out various emotions as part of the lessons.

PHASE stands for Promoting Healthy and Safe Experiences, a mandatory training program in the Canadian Cadet Program.

PHASE affirms youth rights as defined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and
allows for an open dialogue in which youth can explore what healthy relationships look like.
The program provides youth the ability to help themselves or a friend in situations such as
bullying, harassment, dating violence and abuse. PHASE provides guidance on how to be an ally, intervene as a bystander and get help.

This program aligns with the CAF’s priorities for promoting mental health and stress
management to its members and their families. PHASE helps create, maintain and support safe spaces within the Cadet and JCR programs.

PHASE is modelled on psychological first aid principles, which include establishing
a connection with youth in a non-judgmental manner. PHASE is experiential in that it
encourages cadets and JCRs to discuss and role play their actions in various situations.

On 25-27 September, 2026, PORT AUGUSTA cadets participated in our first CANSail Training Weekend of the year at the beautiful North Vancouver Island Cadet Nautical Site (NVI CNS), aka HMCS QUADRA.

Cadets had an outstanding weekend on the water learning new skills and confirming old ones!

On 06 October, 2026, PORT AUGUSTA hosted their monthly Ceremonial Divisions wiht the following presentations:

Welcoming of a "new" cadet to the PORT AUGUSTA family, PO1 Hernandez is a recent transfer from RCSCC AJAX in Ontario and was welcomed by the Cox'n with the presentation of a Challenge Coin.

🧡 Truth and Reconciliation Day

As Sea Cadets, we learn not only seamanship and leadership, but the importance of understanding our shared history.

Today, we pause to honour Indigenous Survivors and remember the children whose voices were never heard.

We encourage our cadets and families to take time to learn, reflect, and support reconciliation.

Every Child Matters.

If you are a PO2 or above, you are expected to attend this week in STUs during our regular training times (1815-2115hrs).
