189 PORT AUGUSTA RCSCC

189 PORT AUGUSTA RCSCC The Royal Canadian Sea Cadet program is a civilian youth program delivered by DND and the Navy League of Canada. This is not a Canadian Armed Forces website.

RCSCC PORT AUGUSTA in Comox is one of the 237 communities across Canada delivering the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet program. We parade on Tuesday nights from September to June between 1815-2115 at HMCS QUADRA which is located on Goose Spit at the end of Hawkins Road in Comox, B.C. Youth aged 12-18 who join sea cadets will learn seamanship, from tying knots to sailing through the waves, navigation, pow

er boat operation, look out duties, small boat sailing, marksmanship, drill and adventure training. Our cadet program is lots of fun, and uses a traditional Naval theme as a platform to develop valuable life skills like leadership, teamwork, discipline, organization, citizenship, physical fitness, and effective communication. Along with regular mandatory maritime training, our cadets may participate in tours on 19 Wing to the flying squadrons, in visits to the 19 Wing base pool and gym, camping, orienteering, hiking, white water rafting, caving, rock climbing, and tubing at Mt. Washington as well as trips to Victoria and Hornby Island at the Outdoor Education Centre. To Register, head to the Online Registration Tool at https://www.canada.ca/en/department-national-defence/services/cadets-junior-canadian-rangers/cadets/join-us/online-registration-tool.html

🚢 Awesome day today kayaking, SUP-ing, building shelters with our Army Cadet (thanks to 1726 Comox Army Cadets - The Canadian Scottish Regiment for loaning us someone for bushcraft!), making s'mores...and, apparently, chasing bubbles!

See if you can find Able the Dolphin 🐬 enjoying the day with us 🤔

A huge thank you to the team at the Comox Valley McDonald's Crown Isle (444 Lerwick Road, Courtenay)!

Your crew provided fantastic service and perfectly fueled up our tired Sea Cadet campers this morning.

We appreciate the donation to our group and helping us start the day with a full stomach and a smile!

📢IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT📢

There is a new member of the PORT AUGUSTA Family:

Able the Dolphin has patrolled the waters near PORT AUGUSTA for generations. Known among sailors for his sharp instincts and steady presence, Able has always guided ships safely through fog, rough seas, and long nights on watch.

One day, Able noticed a group of young cadets training along the shore, learning navigation, discipline, teamwork, and leadership. Impressed by their determination and respect for the sea, Able chose to stand watch with them.

From that day on, Able became the guardian and symbol of PORT AUGUSTA Sea Cadets, reminding every cadet that:

⚓️TEAMWORK keeps you afloat.
⚓️ DISCIPLINE keeps you on course.
⚓️ LEADERSHIP means looking out for others.

Able wears his Sea Cadet white top with pride and carries the kisbee ring of PORT AUGUSTA as a promise; no cadet sails alone.

Welcome to the Corps, Able the Dolphin!🐬

On Tuesday, 26 May 2026, PORT AUGUSTA cadets participated in the annual Mile of Flowers in Courtenay, BC. We spent a bit over 1 hour planting flowers and plants along the corner of 17th St & Cliffe Ave. Many thanks to the City of Courtenay & the Comox Valley Rotary Club for putting on a thank-you BBQ for the volunteers!
