‼️Breaking News - Full OFSC Trail Network To Be Restored Thanks to Historic $4.9M Investment by the Government of Ontario ‼️

The OFSC is thrilled to share great news for organized snowmobiling in Ontario. Thanks to a historic $4.9M investment by the Government of Ontario ($3.9M in new funding, $1M in infrastructure funding already allocated), Ontario’s snowmobile trail network can be restored in full for the 2025–26 season, as it was at the end of last season (30,000+KM). This investment reflects the importance of our system to communities, the economic impact of our trails, and the tremendous effort that has gone into ensuring snowmobiling remains a cornerstone of winter in this province. Looking beyond this season, this investment represents the first step in plans that will ensure the long-term sustainability of a trail network of this size in Ontario.

Over the next few weeks, Clubs will be hard at work doing trail prep, signage, pre-season maintenance on grooming equipment, and securing land use permissions. The OFSC Interactive Trail Guide will update in real-time as land-use permissions are secured for entire trail segments!

Snowmobiling in Ontario runs on three things: volunteers, landowners, and permit revenue. Contact your club to volunteer, respect our landowners, and buy a permit! Working together, the future of snowmobiling in Ontario is strong.

Yay!

BUT... and to be VERY clear...

The map is being updated regularly as agreements are formed and finalized with very gracious landowners and municipalities.

Hey Snowmobilers!
Sure signs the season is almost here: temperatures are dropping, snow is starting to fly, and the Interactive Trail Guide (ITG) is now live: https://ofsc.evtrails.com/ #

❄️ What’s live on day one will evolve as the season builds ❄️

Across Ontario, Clubs are still hard at work preparing the 25,500 km trail network for winter - so what you see today on the ITG is only the starting point. As we highlighted last season, every trail section requires documented land use permissions from intersection to intersection before it becomes visible on the ITG or in the GSO App.

So, what does that mean?
1. Our Clubs are actively finalizing agreements, and thousands of additional KMs will appear in in the days and weeks ahead.
2. It is a perfect time to reach out to your local Club to see how you can help! Many hands make light work.
3. BONUS - permits are available for purchase, if you didn't know. Buy early, buy often! https://permits.ofsc.on.ca/

For specific questions about the final trail footprint, riders are encouraged to reach out to their club: https://www.ofsc.on.ca/find-your-club

We know riders rely on the ITG and app for trip planning, and we’re committed to keeping the system as accurate and up to date as possible. The early launch simply means you can start checking in sooner and watch the network take shape in real time. As per usual, the launch of the Go Snowmobiling Ontario App will follow on December 1st!

Unfortunately, across the provincial trail system, the OFSC has asked all club to reduce their trail network to make budget room. A reminder, the MTO refused a request from the OFSC to raise the permit fee very modestly to cover the increased costs of insurance, fuel, maintenance, etc.

Your PPSC evaluated all of the trails and has made the difficult decision to close the following trails this season: 163, 166, and 168. See the map insert.

Any comments can be directed to the OFSC. Commenting will be turned off on this post to minimize negativity.

We are all sledders too and love these trails. It is not an easy decision and wasn’t taken lightly.

⚠️Attention Ontario Snowmobilers!!! ⚠️

We hope you are as excited as we are for what lies ahead in just a few short months. After a 19-week winter that gave us some of the best snowmobiling conditions in years, we are deeply grateful to our club volunteers, landowners, partners, and you - the permit buyers - who continue to support this sport with passion.

Before trail prep kicks into high gear, permits go on sale, and groomers start turning tracks, we wanted to take this opportunity to provide a glimpse into the operational side of our sport. I hope you read on (it's a long one, but don’t worry - it's not snowing yet!).

We will be holding a Work Bee on Saturday September 27th. We will meet at 9:00 a.m. at Pine Cliff Lodge, by our Sea Can.

This Work Bee will focus on trail maintenance for the E109 northbound and southbound. We ask that volunteers bring ATV's and SxS to assist with the work.

We encourage as many members and volunteers as possible to participate. Many hands make light work, and your time and effort are essential to keeping our trails safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all riders.

Please RSVP to me at [email protected] if you are able to make it. Thank you!

Thank you in advance for your support, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,
Peterson Pathfinders Snowmobile Club

Just a few hours ago, the last kilometer of OFSC Prescribed Snowmobile Trails was turned unavailable marking the end of the 2024-25 Ontario Snowmobile Season.
And what a season it was! 🤩🤩🤩
This year we are doing things a bit differently and OFSC CEO, Ryan Eickmeier has this letter for everyone who contributes to ensure organized snowmobiling is here for all to enjoy!
