Happy World Environment Day! 🌏

We are so lucky to spend each day working to protect our local watersheds and everyone in them. The reality is, the environment usually does a pretty good job at taking care of itself. It’s humans who usually cause the problems.

That’s why the Trust exists: to protect and enhance the Blue Mountains watershed ecosystem through direct action, advocacy, and education.

Because we are an entirely volunteer-run organization, we can’t do this work without you! If you would like to help support our work, please consider donating or becoming a member at the link in our bio.

Let's take care of our backyard and community, together. 🤝

Happy Bike Month! 🚲

Did you know that Collingwood was recently awarded the Silver Bicycle Friendly Community Designation by the Share the Road Cycling Coalition?

When you choose to bike instead of drive, you’re directly reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions and, consequently, actively helping keep our watersheds healthy. Fewer emissions help stabilize weather patterns, reduce flooding, and improve soil erosion (Conservation Ontario). And that’s pretty great!

Whether you bike to work or take a leisurely ride on the Georgian Trail, thank you for helping the environment! If you haven’t already, consider choosing your bike for your next trip; you won’t regret it!

Happy riding, BMWT 🏞

❗Stop The Floods❗

What do Cranberry West, The Forest, Blue Shores, Rupert's Landing and more Collingwood communities have in common? FLOODING!

Please join us Wednesday April 29th, at 4:00 p.m. at the Collingwood Public Library, as we discuss real and mounting flood risks, what's going wrong... and right, the results of the recent Huntingwood Trails East hearing, and what stronger safeguards the Town can and must adopt now.

Please attend. Your questions, comments, and ideas will help shape the actions we take to protect Collingwood's neighbourhoods and wetlands.

We hope to see you there!

❗CHANGE OF LOCATION: Thornbury Public Library❗

Our upcoming film, The Invisible Mammal, follows the story of a team of women bat scientists working towards saving the North American Bat species from white-nose syndrome, a deadly fungal disease. This film explores the crucial role bats play in our shared environment, while simultaneously highlighting the need for collaboration in protecting and preserving bat populations everywhere.

These small mammals are vital for natural pest control, pollination, seed dispersal, and ecological succession, and we hope this film inspires everyone to recognize their importance and take an active role in supporting conservation efforts🦇

Please join us, we can’t wait to see you there!

🌏 Happy Earth Day 2026🌏

Today, and every day, the Blue Mountain Watershed Trust celebrates and recognizes our Earth, our ecosystems, and our water. We work hard to protect our local watersheds, from Battaeux Creek to Townline Creek, ensuring a sustainable and healthy environment for generations to come.

This Earth Day, remember that even small actions can help shape the future of our water and community. And your opinion matters!

Let’s work together, join our events, volunteer, or share your ideas to keep our watersheds thriving.

Don't forget about our upcoming film, Climate in Therapy! A humorous, inventive experiment in which seven climate scientists confront their emotions about climate change. The film ends on an optimistic note and captures what it means to care deeply about such an important cause.

A panel discussion with local experts from the CCAT, South Georgian Bay Community Health, and Free Spirit Tours will follow the hour-long film.
