Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day

Some lives are brief, but the love and memories they leave behind last forever.

Today, we remember the babies gone too soon and acknowledge the grief experienced by parents, families and loved ones.

Grief looks different for everyone, and no loss is too small to deserve compassion and support.

At Hospice Georgian Triangle, our grief and bereavement counsellors are here to listen, offer guidance and provide a safe space for those navigating loss.

A heartfelt thank you to Tyler and the entire team at The Roadrunner Food Co. for generously providing our Thanksgiving feast year after year!

This special meal brings so much warmth to Campbell House, giving patients and families something meaningful to look forward to and enjoy together. During difficult times, it's moments like these that truly matter.

We are so grateful for community partners like Roadrunner Food Co. who continue to show up for us and make such a difference for the people we care for and our team.

Celebrated every year to honour and highlight the vital care children with life-limiting conditions and their families receive.

Today, we pause to recognize:

The compassion and dedication of hospice palliative care teams
The strength, courage, and resilience of children and their families
The importance of access to quality care, pain relief, emotional support, and dignity in every moment

Today we help to raise awareness about children’s hospice needs, advocate for equitable access to palliative care services and honour those families navigating this journey.

WISHFUL WEDNESDAY - At Hospice Georgian Triangle, it’s often the simple moments that mean the most.

Stewart’s wish was to have a haircut and beard trim. With just one day’s notice, Matt Cola from Haus of Handsome arrived at Campbell House with a briefcase full of barber tools, ready to bring the full barbershop experience right to Stewart’s room.

The clippers buzzed, conversation flowed, and for a little while, the room simply felt like a barbershop.

Matt took his time and made sure every detail was just right. By the end, Stewart was smiling, looking sharp and clearly feeling refreshed after his royal treatment.

A haircut. A conversation. A little bit of normalcy.
A moment that mattered.

Thank you, Matt, for helping make Stewart’s wish possible.

Thank you to the Seniors Network - Blue Mountains for inviting us to take part in the Blue Mountains Seniors Information and Active Living Fair at the Beaver Valley Community Centre in Thornbury.

Our Culinary Services Lead, Kelley Cookson, and Community Volunteer, Maureen McDonald, spent the day connecting with community members, meeting new people and catching up with familiar faces.

We shared information about:

End-of-life care at Campbell House
Volunteer opportunities with Hospice Georgian Triangle
Free Advance Care Planning workbooks
Grief and bereavement counselling available to people throughout our community

One important message we were glad to share is that you do not need to have had a loved one die at Campbell House to access our grief and bereavement support.

It was a rewarding and enjoyable day, and we are grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many people.

Thank you again to the Seniors Network - Blue Mountains for having us. We look forward to next year!

Today at Hospice Georgian Triangle, we honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with reflection, learning, and community.

Our Kitchen Angels prepared blueberry wild rice pudding with maple syrup and traditional teas. We included books that can be read to further our learning and reflection.

Staff and volunteers wore orange shirts in recognition and remembrance of the children who never came home and those whose lived experience will continue to feel the harm for generations to come.

May we continue to listen, acknowledge, and walk forward with compassion, reflection, and reconciliation 🧡
