Using drones helps us cover more ground, monitor riverbeds, and find issues faster while reducing disturbance to the environment.

🐟 As salmon spawning season gets underway, please avoid walking in creeks whenever possible. Salmon redds (egg nests) are fragile and easily damaged. Let's all do our part to protect local fish habitat.

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Stu Paterson, a true champion of conservation, community, and our environment.

Stu was a dedicated member of the Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association, a Director with OFAH Zone H, and, above all, a genuinely kind-hearted individual whose passion, leadership, and generosity touched so many lives. His commitment to protecting our natural resources and supporting others in the conservation community leaves a lasting legacy that will not be forgotten.

Stu will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our deepest condolences go out to his wife, Nancy, and to his family and friends during this difficult time.

As a club, we will honour Stu’s legacy by continuing to do all we can for our watershed, our fishery, and for the next generation of conservationists. His dedication and example will continue to inspire our work for years to come.

Rest in peace, Stu. Thank you for all you did for our community and the outdoors we cherish. We will all miss the reports from the Oxenden Bureau.

🐟✅ Fish Passage Restored!

What looked like a small blockage was actually preventing salmon from accessing a significant amount of potential spawning habitat upstream in one of our local tributaries.
With low water levels, several major obstructions had become impassable for migrating fish. But with the help of 10 amazing volunteers and about 5 hours of hard work, we were able to get things flowing again.

Together, we lowered the dammed section by nearly 3 feet, restoring flow through the channel and reopening access to valuable upstream habitat. 🌿💧

The creek is moving well again, and after a few good rains help flush out some of the remaining sediment, we expect fish passage to be back to normal for this season.

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up ready to dig, move material, and make a difference. Conservation happens one project at a time, and this is a great example of what a dedicated group can accomplish.

🚜🌲 Hatchery Grounds Cleanup – Round 2 (2026) 🌲🚜

Another productive day at the hatchery!

The remaining trees damaged by the ice storms were taken down this spring, cut up, and removed from the property. We also cleared the creek of fallen tree debris, restoring proper water flow and helping keep the grounds in good condition.

One more important upgrade was the replacement of the old broken garage door. The new door is built to handle the heavy snow loads that slide off the roof during the winter, making it a much safer and more reliable solution for years to come.

A whole lot of sweat equity went into this round of cleanup, but it's another step toward keeping our hatchery operating as safely, smoothly, and efficiently as possible.

A big shout out to everyone who helped us clean up.
