The Escarpment Corridor Alliance

The Escarpment Corridor Alliance Our vision is to create a permanently protected and connected nature corridor in South Georgian Bay. For nature. For people. For good.

The Escarpment Corridor Alliance is a regional conservation charity dedicated to protecting the Niagara Escarpment of Southern Georgian Bay. By creating a connected ecological corridor, we ensure a legacy of biodiversity, recreation & wellness, and sustainability for generations to come. Together, we can balance nature, economy, agriculture, and community while safeguarding the heart of our region.

Did you know that the natural corridors of South Georgian Bay allow animals to move safely between habitats, find food, adapt to climate change, and maintain healthy populations? 🌱

Protecting connected landscapes isn’t just about preserving beautiful places, it’s about ensuring nature can continue to function for generations to come. 🌻

That’s why the work of the Escarpment Corridor Alliance focuses on keeping these critical connections intact across South Georgian Bay. Learn more about our work through the links in our bio! 💚

270 trees. Two hours. Big Impact. 🌱

A huge thank you to , and the amazing volunteers who joined us for a beautiful morning of tree planting last week.

Together, we put 270 native trees & shrubs in the ground - small seedlings today that will one day provide habitat for wildlife, help protect water quality, store carbon, and contribute to a healthier, more connected landscape.

It’s inspiring to see what can happen when a community comes together with a shared commitment to the land. Every tree planted is an investment in the future, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make it happen.

Here’s to growing forests, strengthening ecosystems, and creating lasting impact—one tree at a time. 🌳💚

What an evening! 🌿

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Escarpment Corridor Alliance’s inaugural Annual Community Update! It was a wonderful gathering of community members, conservation supporters, partners, and friends who share a commitment to protecting the Niagara Escarpment landscape.

Together, we reflected on the ECA’s 2025 conservation achievements, looked ahead to our priorities for 2026, and celebrated the collective efforts that are helping protect and connect ecologically sensitive lands across South Georgian Bay for nature, for people, for good. 🫶🌳

We’re grateful to everyone who attended, connected, asked questions, and continues to support conservation across the Niagara Escarpment. A special thank you to our guest speaker, Mike Hendren from the Ontario Conservation Accelerator!

Here’s to another year of collaboration, stewardship, and meaningful conservation outcomes. 💚

A strong and engaged Board of Directors is essential to the Escarpment Corridor Alliance’s success, providing the leadership, governance, and strategic direction that help advance our conservation mission.

We extend our sincere thanks to board member Mike Robbins, original founding board member, and Ian Whitton (not photographed), for their dedication, leadership, and contributions to the organization. Their passion and commitment have helped shape and strengthen the ECA, and we are deeply grateful for their service as they step off the Board of Directors.

The Escarpment Corridor Alliance is excited to welcome two new members to the board: David Doritty (not photographed) and Brenna Lattimore. We look forward to the experience, insight, and energy they will bring as we continue advancing conservation across the Niagara Escarpment landscape.

In addition, we are pleased to recognize the following leadership roles within the ECA Board of Directors:
• Dale Biddell: Chair
• Bruce Harbinson: Co-Founder & Past President
• Stephen Griggs: Co-Founder & Past Chair
• Gillian White: Secretary

Thank you to our entire Board of Directors for their ongoing leadership, vision, and commitment to protecting and connecting natural spaces for future generations.

Come along for a morning of bird monitoring at Sandy’s Summit Nature Preserve 🐦🌾

There’s something pretty special about starting the day with birdsong, tall grass, and a pair of binoculars. Every sighting helps us learn more about who’s using this landscape — and how we can keep restoring habitat for them to thrive here.

Bird photos credited to Merlin Bird ID which is an incredibly helpful tool for us out in the field and can be for you in your own backyard too! Every observation contributes to citizen science and helps fuel research.

If you’d like to help us restore more grassland habitat for birds to return to, consider making a donation through the link in our bio. 💚🌿
