📸 This Week’s Throwback Thursday!

This week we’re looking back to 1974, when the streets of Coldwater came alive with the annual Coldwater Fall Fair Parade. This newspaper clipping captures several parade highlights, including impressive horse teams and community floats representing local schools and organizations.

Parades have long been a cherished part of fair weekend, bringing together families, businesses, schools, and community groups to celebrate the agricultural heritage and community spirit that make the Coldwater Fall Fair so special.

A special thank you to the Huronia Museum Archives for helping preserve and share these wonderful pieces of local history.

🏡🌾 Show Your Fair Spirit – Enter the Property Decorating Competition! 🌾🏡

Help us celebrate the 2026 Coldwater Fall Fair by transforming your property, farm, or business into a showcase of Country Life!

Whether it's a creative display made from hay bales, farm equipment, pumpkins, corn stalks, banners, or your own unique ideas, we want to see your community pride on display!

🏆 Prize: $125
First Place awarded in each section

🚜 Farm or Country Property
🏠 In-Town Property
🏪 Downtown Business

📅 Your display must:
✔ Feature the Fair dates: September 25, 26 & 27, 2026
✔ Include this year's theme: "Country Life"
✔ Be ready for judging by September 15, 2026

📸 Coordinators will visit each registered property, photograph the display, and entries will be judged by a committee. Photos of all entries will be showcased at the front of the arena throughout Fair weekend!

🌾🚜 Showcase Your Best in the Grain Exhibit at the 2026 Coldwater Fall Fair! 🚜🌾

Do you grow grain, corn, or forage crops? We'd love to see your entries in our Grain Exhibit! This is a great opportunity to highlight the quality and hard work that goes into local agriculture while competing for cash prizes.

Classes Include:
🌾 White Oats (½ bushel)
🌾 Barley (½ bushel)
🌽 Six Ears of Grain Corn (variety named)
🌱 Baled Hay – 1st Cut (10" slice)
🌱 Baled Hay – 2nd Cut (10" slice)
🌱 Haylage (clear plastic bag)
🌽 Corn Sheaf – 6 Stalks (variety and purpose named)

Whether you're a seasoned producer or simply proud of this year's crop, we encourage you to enter and share your agricultural achievements with the community.

🌾 Celebrating Women in Agriculture 🌾

Recently, the United Nations officially declared 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer (IYWF 2026), recognizing the essential role women play in agriculture and food production around the world.

To help celebrate and highlight the incredible women in our local farming community, the Coldwater Fall Fair is planning a special series of short 2–3 minute videos featuring local female farmers. These videos will be shared across our social media channels and showcased during the fair.

From livestock and crops to family farms and agricultural businesses, we want to help tell the stories of the hardworking women who help keep agriculture strong in our community.

If you are a female farmer — or know someone who would be a wonderful person to feature — we would love to hear from you!

The Coldwater Fall Fair monthly organizing meeting is a great opportunity to get involved, share ideas, and help make this year’s fair the best one yet. Whether you’re a long-time volunteer or brand new to the community, these meetings are a welcoming space to meet some wonderful people, collaborate on exciting plans, and play a hands-on role in bringing our fair to life.
