We are so proud of our youth for making a meaningful impact in our community ๐Ÿ’™

On May 20th, we were thrilled to welcome the Pathfinders from 5th Medley Guides, part of Lakeland District Girl Guides, to Stepping Stones Crisis Society!

During their visit, the group toured the first and second floors of our building, brought generous donations, and participated in an important discussion about family violence. Together, we talked about some of the signs of abuse, what to do if someone may be experiencing violence, and how to support a friend who may be in trouble.

Prior to their visit, the Pathfinders were divided into groups and given a budget to research, plan, and purchase items for care bags for the women we support through our programs and services. They did an incredible job, thoughtfully selecting items that will provide comfort, encouragement, and practical support. The care bags they assembled will go a long way in supporting the women and children who access our services.

We are incredibly grateful for their generosity, compassion, and willingness to learn about such an important issue. It was inspiring to see these young leaders take such an active role in supporting their community and raising awareness about family violence.

Thank you to Lakeland District Girl Guides and the Pathfinders of 5th Medley Guides for your donations, kindness, and dedication to making a difference. Together, we are helping build a safer and more compassionate community. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐ŸŽ‰ WOW! What an incredible registration opening day! ๐ŸŽ‰

We are blown away by the enthusiasm for Girl Guides across Lakeland District. In just one day, three of our five units have already reached capacity!

If your preferred unit is full, please donโ€™t let that stop you from registering for the waitlist. Waitlists are incredibly importantโ€”they help us understand where demand is highest and guide our efforts as we explore opportunities to create more spaces and expand our programming.

Every family who joins a waitlist helps us identify where additional capacity may be needed and ensures we can contact you if a spot becomes available.

๐Ÿ’™ Join the waitlist
๐Ÿ’™ Help us understand where the need is greatest
๐Ÿ’™ Stay connected for future opportunities

Thank you to all of our new and returning members for such an amazing start to registration season. We canโ€™t wait for another year of friendship, adventure, leadership, and fun!

๐ŸŽ‰ Registration is NOW OPEN! ๐ŸŽ‰

A new year of Girl Guides adventures is just around the corner, and we canโ€™t wait to welcome new and returning members across Lakeland District! ๐Ÿ’™

From Sparks to Rangers, girls build confidence, make lifelong friendships, discover new interests, and create unforgettable memories through camps, trips, community service, outdoor adventures, and so much more.

โœจ This year, space is limited in many of our units, and some branches are already filling quickly. If your preferred unit is full, please join the waitlist!

Why are waitlists so important?
๐Ÿ’ก They help us identify where demand exists.
๐Ÿ’ก They provide valuable information when weโ€™re planning new units and recruiting volunteers.
๐Ÿ’ก They help us create more opportunities for girls to participate in Girl Guides.

๐ŸŒŸ Even if a unit is currently full, adding your name to the waitlist helps us work toward expanding programming where itโ€™s needed most.

โฐ Set those alarms! โฐ

Girl Guides registration opens at 8:00 AM tomorrow morning, and we canโ€™t wait to welcome new and returning members for another incredible year of friendship, adventure, leadership, and fun!

If your first-choice unit is already full, donโ€™t worry โ€” join the waitlist! ๐Ÿ’™

Waitlists are incredibly important because they:
โœจ Show us where demand exists in our community
โœจ Help units identify opportunities to open additional spaces when possible
โœจ Help Girl Guides determine where new units may be needed in the future

We only consider opening additional spaces or new units when we see a need through our waitlists. If a unit is full, adding your name to the waitlist helps us understand where families are looking for programming and where our efforts should be focused.

Many girls are offered spots from waitlists throughout the registration season, so itโ€™s always worth adding your name.

Set those reminders, grab your coffee, and be ready when registration opens! We canโ€™t wait to see our Sparks, Embers, Guides, Pathfinders, and Rangers back for another amazing year. ๐Ÿ€

Last night, our Sparks had a great time visiting Kempe Fitness & Fighting for an introduction to jiu jitsu!

Through fun games and activities, the girls learned a few basic moves while practicing listening skills, coordination, and teamwork. There were lots of smiles, plenty of laughter, and everyone had a chance to get moving and try something new.

Thank you to the team at Kempe for making the experience so engaging and age-appropriate for our Sparks. The girls had a blast and were talking about it long after the meeting ended!

The 5th Medley Guides had a hands-on evening focused on outdoor skills and safety!

The girls learned about fire safety, campfire procedures, and proper axe handling, building the knowledge and confidence needed for future camping adventures. They also had the opportunity to practice using a fire extinguisher and learned how to respond safely in an emergency.

We are so proud of the Guides for their enthusiasm, responsibility, and willingness to learn new skills. Experiences like these help them develop confidence, independence, and leadership while having fun along the way.

Well done, 5th Medley Guides! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿช“๐Ÿงฏ

The 11th Medley Embers traded their meeting space for the water this week and spent an evening canoeing together!

From learning new skills and building confidence to working as a team and enjoying the outdoors, the girls embraced every moment of the adventure. There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and memories made along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this experience possible. Opportunities like these help our Embers grow, challenge themselves, and discover just how capable they are.

What a wonderful evening on the water! ๐Ÿ›ถ๐Ÿ’™

Last night, our Sparks had the absolute pleasure of visiting the residents at Cold Lake Lodge โ€” and it quickly became one of the most meaningful meetings weโ€™ve had all year. ๐Ÿ’™

In a world that moves so fast, it was incredibly special to slow down and be intentional with our time together. Our Sparks practiced introducing themselves, carrying conversations, making new friends, and most importantly, connecting across generations. Watching their confidence grow as they chatted, laughed, and shared stories absolutely filled our cups.

We could not be more proud of the way our Sparks represented Girl Guides. Their kindness, curiosity, and respectful conversations made such an impact, and we already canโ€™t wait to go back!

A huge thank you to Katherine for arranging this wonderful opportunity, and to Candice for helping facilitate such a memorable evening.

And to the lovely residents who spent time with us โ€” Louisa, Joan, Edith, Marlene, Gary, Ann, and everyone else who welcomed us so warmly โ€” thank you for sharing your stories, smiles, and time with us. We truly loved getting to know you. ๐Ÿ’•
