Age Friendly would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to CO‑OP Cold Lake for truly going the extra mile for our seniors in the Hope Harbour Day Program.

When we shared that our seniors, ages 71 to 90, were eager to take part in the CO‑OP coloring contest, the staff didn’t hesitate. They kindly adjusted the rules so our participants could join in the fun. The seniors were absolutely delighted, and the joy it brought to them was wonderful to see.

Their excitement grew even more when Tammy and the CO‑OP team surprised them with a beautiful display board showcasing their artwork, along with a generous $100 CO‑OP gift card and a $50 Tim Hortons card for Hope Harbour.

Your kindness, flexibility, and recognition of seniors means more than you know.

What a meaningful weekend with the Alberta Hospice Palliative Care Association.
Year 3 of the training was truly exceptional, and the feedback reflected just how impactful it was.

Betty and Iska were phenomenal, inspiring, compassionate, and engaging from start to finish. Participants shared how much they loved the morning exercises, appreciated the presenters’ gentle honesty, and felt the sessions offered a better, clearer understanding of end‑of‑life care and the realities families face. Many said the presenters were “beyond wonderful,” and that the training struck a perfect balance of laughs and tears.

It was heartfelt learning, meaningful conversations, and genuinely helpful content. Feeling grateful for everyone who joined and contributed to such a powerful experience.

Thanks to the generous support of Furniture Galaxy , Age Friendly now has two large freezers filled with delicious, nutritionally balanced frozen meals. These meals are a wonderful option for seniors, busy caregivers who may not have time to cook, adults needing something healthy after a long day at work, and families rushing to extracurricular activities with the kids. Just heat, serve, and enjoy, homestyle cooking that helps keep our community nourished and supported.

Many families supported by Age Friendly have faced end‑of‑life situations without the legal and personal planning documents needed to guide decision‑making. The absence of a Power of Attorney, Personal Directive, or Goals of Care often results in confusion, conflict, and crisis at a time when caregivers are already overwhelmed. This training directly addresses that gap by ensuring caregivers understand these tools, complete them early, and feel prepared for future transitions. By building end‑of‑life literacy and readiness, the program reduces avoidable crises and supports families in navigating end‑of‑life with clarity, confidence, and compassion.
