Your participation helps raise understanding, reduce stigma, and honour the families and caregivers walking this journey every day.

Age Friendly Cold Lake is proud to unveil our new logo: Age Friendly – Serving Seniors Throughout the Lakeland. This refreshed look reflects our growing reach, beginning with the launch of services in the Town of Bonnyville and the M.D. of Bonnyville. Age Friendly has begun by offering long distance non emergency medical transportation, the Hope Harbour Day Program providing dementia respite for caregivers, our Caregivers Support Group, and the Frozen Meal Program, all designed to support seniors and their caregivers across the Lakeland region.

Our Hope Harbour Caregiver Respite Program is welcoming new volunteers who want to make a meaningful difference for seniors in our community. The program runs every Wednesday from 10am to 3pm. Volunteers offer support through conversation, assistance with simple activities, and shared moments that bring comfort and connection.

Lunch and snacks are provided, and volunteers are welcomed into a friendly and supportive group space where kindness matters. The day begins with a light snack and relaxed social time, followed by a gentle workout. After lunch we move into games, activities, or crafts that encourage creativity and fun.

Even when the support you provide feels effortless or uncomplicated, it matters in ways that are truly immeasurable. Your presence helps create a day that feels safe, engaging, and uplifting for participants. If you or someone you know would enjoy being part of this program, we would love to hear from you.

Ignite volunteers is the theme of the 2026 Volunteer week and how volunteers can spark positive change through their time, talent and empathy. AFCL has amazingly talented volunteers and we honor them today for all they do and give to AFCL clients.

AFCL would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Linda and Val Dunn, two of Cold Lake’s renowned artists, for generously donating beautifully crafted cards featuring copies of their original hand‑painted prints. These meaningful gifts are a special way to honour our volunteers, and they will be cherished for years to come.

We also want to sincerely thank the Cold Lake Community Church for hosting our Volunteer BBQ, and to Celeste and Sonya for always being there to cook for us. Your kindness, hospitality, and steady support help make our events warm, welcoming, and truly community‑driven.
