Dear Friends,
“Awe gripped the people as they saw this majestic display of God’s power.
While everyone was marveling at everything he was doing, Jesus said to his disciples, “Listen to me and remember what I say. The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies” Luke 9:43–44

Amazing Things:
The Gospels repeatedly reveal to us the amazement of those who were around Jesus. Shortly after his birth, his parents were amazed when Simeon said to God, “My eyes have seen your salvation” (Luke 2:30), as he held the little child in his arms. At age 12, Jesus listened to and questioned the teachers in the temple about the Law. They were amazed at his intelligence and his answers.
As an adult, he cast out demons and healed many people of various diseases. “The crowds were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing” (Matthew 15:31). All his opponents were silenced. “They could not catch him in his words before the people; amazed at his answer, they fell silent” (Luke 20:26). Unjustly condemned and crucified, he died with a loud cry, which is impossible during the agony of crucifixion. The Roman officer and those watching over Jesus were astonished: “Truly this man was the Son of God” (Matthew 27:54).
Death could not hold him. He rose again, thus proving that he is the Son of God. The disciples, who had heard Jesus speak to them of his death and resurrection, were nevertheless astonished to see him alive, risen (Luke 24: 40, 41).
Everything points to the divinity and greatness of the One who sacrificed His life to save us. Our joy is to believe in Him and love Him. Dear friends, accepting salvation is a privilege and a priceless treasure. If you do not know Jesus as your Savior, do not let this opportunity for eternal life pass you by.
Have a good week and be blessed!

Dear Friends,
“21 It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, 22 and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.” 2 Corinthians 1:21–22

The Spirit of God
Every born-again believer possesses the Holy Spirit, who dwells in their body as in a temple (1 Corinthians 6:19). In the verses cited, the Spirit is presented in three aspects:
– A seal, a mark of ownership. It bears the name of its owner, or a sign that identifies its owner. Through the seal of the Holy Spirit, God thus places a mark on the believer: this mark unmistakably identifies the believer as belonging to God.
– A down payment: a down payment is made on a sum of money owed to guarantee full payment later. The Holy Spirit, whom the believer possesses in his heart today, gives him—along with the certainty of belonging to Jesus—peace and joy as he awaits the perfect happiness he will inherit with Jesus in heaven.
– An anointing: this is the act of pouring oil on someone’s head to set them apart, with a view to conferring a specific office upon them, such as the priesthood (Exodus 29:7) or kingship (1 Samuel 16:11–13). Today, the Holy Spirit enables God’s children to understand what pleases God and to live it out, regardless of their spiritual maturity (1 John 2:20). The anointing of the Holy Spirit assigns a mission to each person and qualifies them to serve God.
Christians, the fact that the Spirit dwells within us is a treasure and an invaluable resource!
Be blessed!

Dear Friends,
“But the blood on your doorposts will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt.” Exodus 12:13
“…and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7

What sign is upon you?
When the soldiers of this group of fanatics entered Mosul (Iraq), they marked the homes of Christians with the letter “noun” (the “n” in our alphabet). In this way, they identified the “Nazarenes” (disciples of Jesus of Nazareth), whom they intended to massacre. In those houses, everyone knew that their condemnation was clearly displayed on the walls of the very home meant to protect them. They knew that if they did not flee, they would die.
The situation of the Israelites, as described in the biblical account cited at the beginning, was entirely different. While the inhabitants of Egypt were condemned to a terrible plague, they had been invited to mark their doors with the blood of a lamb, so that they might be spared. They killed an animal, marked their doorposts with its blood… and were spared! It didn’t require being smarter or holier to do this; it required only faith—active faith: believing and acting accordingly!
Today, the Bible tells us that each of us will one day have to give an account to God. It also tells us that Jesus Christ offered Himself as “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29). He was punished in our place for all the offenses we have committed against God. We must believe this with all our hearts to be spared from God’s judgment.
In Mosul, the sign on the houses condemned people to death. Today, whoever believes in the work of Jesus Christ is saved from eternal separation from God.
Be blessed!

Dear Friends,
“(Jesus said:) And though I have no wish to glorify myself, God is going to glorify me. He is the true judge.” John 8:50

What he sought was the glory of God
In the Garden of Eden, Satan persuaded Adam and Eve that they would be “like God” if they ate the forbidden fruit. This idea of rising up to God seemed desirable to them, and they followed the Tempter’s advice. In doing so, they disobeyed God, denying His authority as their Creator.
This desire to exalt themselves has been passed down to the entire human race. Humility does not come naturally to us; pride, we must admit, dwells in all our hearts, to various degrees.
When Jesus came to earth, he declared, “I do not seek my own glory.” Although he was God the Son, and in stark contrast to Adam, he emptied himself to become a man. Then, as a man, he humbled himself even further, to the point of death on the cross (Philippians 2:5–11). Jesus thus followed a path opposite to that of our first parents. The desire to exalt himself, which led to Adam’s disobedience, was foreign to Jesus. On the contrary, throughout his entire life, we find true and constant humility. He was “gentle and humble in heart,” not falsely humble as we sometimes are (Matthew 11:29). He did not seek the approval or admiration of men; he did the will of God. The center of his thoughts was God his Father, everywhere, always, and in everything.
In him alone, God found his delight (Matthew 17:5). That is why God raised him from the dead and “exalted him to the highest place,” and “crowned him with glory and honor” (Philippians 2:9; Hebrews 2:9).
The question we must ask ourselves in all our actions is: Is this for my glory or God’s?
Be blessed!

Dear Friends,
“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew 6:34

I no longer ask him for money
One day, a friend told me the story of his encounter with someone who rang his doorbell, and I quote: “A man offered his services to maintain my garden. Something about his demeanor led me to strike up a conversation. We discovered that we were both Christians.” My visitor told me that he had converted some time ago, and that his life had been transformed. Finding work is a daily concern for him. But now, he faces it with his God. Before leaving, he added: “Now, I no longer ask God to give me money; I ask Him to take away my worry.” Wow…
In its simplicity, this remark touches me and often comes to mind. It is very much in line with Jesus’ teaching to his disciples: “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink… Which of you, by worrying, can add a single cubit to your height? And why do you worry about clothing? … Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ … Therefore do not worry about tomorrow… each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:25–34).
God knows we need these material things, and it is natural to be concerned about them. This Christian trusted in God, yet he did not remain idle: he went from door to door looking for work. But he had learned what we often struggle to do: to cast upon God the cares caused by these material things.
Be blessed and have a good week!
