At CISC, we believe strong communities are built through collaboration. 💛

We’re proud to work alongside Rocky View Immigrant Services (RVIS), one of our valued community partners supporting newcomers, immigrants and refugees in Cochrane, Airdrie and surrounding communities.

While CISC and RVIS are separate organizations with different programs and areas of focus, our work often connects through a shared goal: helping newcomers feel supported, informed, welcomed and part of their community.

In this video, Fleeha Ahmad (Welcoming Airdrie )from RVIS shares a little more about the services and support available through Rocky View Immigrant Services.

🌎 Cochrane, CultureFest is almost here!

Join us on Saturday, September 12 from 1:00 to 4:30 PM for an afternoon celebrating the cultures, traditions, food, music, and people that make our community so special.

CultureFest brings neighbours together to explore cultures from around the world, meet members of our diverse community, enjoy cultural displays and performances, and celebrate the many stories that make Cochrane home.

A wonderful day at the Back-to-School Family Resource Fair!

We’re at the Back-to-School Family Resource Fair today! 📚✨

CISC is here alongside Rocky View Immigrant Services, sharing information, resources, and community connections available to newcomers and immigrant families in Cochrane.

A perfect way to end our Community Potluck Picnic! 💃🕺

After an afternoon of sharing food, stories, and community, Cathy Calmers got everyone moving with a fun little Line Dancing class.

First came learning the steps, then putting them all together, and before long we had a whole group dancing the choreography together! There were a few laughs, a little concentration, and lots of good energy along the way.

Thank you, Cathy Chalmers, for bringing such a joyful ending to the afternoon and to everyone who joined in and gave it a try. 🧡

What a beautiful afternoon of food, culture, friendship, and community! 🧡

Our Community Potluck Picnic brought people together to share delicious food, stories, and time with one another.

We were especially happy to recognize all of the Cultural Cooking Without Borders lead cooks who have shared their cultures with our community so far, presenting each with a small gift from CISC as a token of our appreciation.

We also celebrated the birthday of our wonderful Ambassador Jeannette Timmer with cake, flowers, and lots of love! 🎂💐

A huge thank you to everyone who brought food to share and to our amazing volunteers who helped make the afternoon possible.

We loved having Cultivate Cochrane’s Solar Roller with us too! Their work helps our community learn more about growing food, sustainability, and building local food resilience. ☀️🌱

Our Mosaic team, Julie Battistella and Joy Klick, also shared a little about the Mosaic program, while both captured the afternoon through the photos in this carousel. 📸

Finally, thank you to the Government of Alberta, Town of Cochrane, Frank Wills Community Hall, Cultivate Cochrane, and especially the Rotary Club of Cochrane for supporting programs and gatherings that bring our community together.

It’s tomorrow!

Join us Thursday, August 27 from 2:00–5:00 PM for our Community Potluck Picnic at the green space beside Frank Wills Community Hall!

Bring your favourite dish, appetizer, or dessert to share, and come enjoy an afternoon of food, conversation, community, and connection. Drinks are on us!

We’ll also be celebrating the wonderful lead cooks from Cultural Cooking Without Borders, whose generosity and love of sharing culture through food have made the program so special.

And Cultivate Cochrane’s Solar Roller will be joining us too!

Happy Birthday to CISC Ambassador, Jeannette Timmer!

Today we celebrate someone whose kindness, warmth, and beautiful smile have a way of making everyone around her feel a little brighter.

Jeannette brings genuine care and compassion to our CISC family and to the people she meets in our community. Her welcoming spirit and ability to make others feel seen and valued are just some of the many reasons we are so fortunate to have her with us.

🌍 Help us bring more cultures to Culture Fest!

Culture Fest is coming back to Cochrane this September, and CISC is looking for community members interested in representing their culture through a cultural booth.

We would especially love to connect with people from Bolivia, China, Syria, Tunisia, or Japan who would like to share a little piece of their heritage with the Cochrane community.

Cultural booths can include things like traditional clothing, food samples, music, art, crafts, photographs, history, games, celebrations, or anything else that helps tell the story of your culture.

You do not need previous event experience or a perfectly planned booth. If you are proud of your culture and would enjoy sharing it with others, we would love to hear from you.
