We may have a future club president on our hands! Jeff was out with his daughter Ali yesterday and they removed signs all around our A106C. Thanks guys!

Our signage takedown for the season is mostly complete! Just a few signs to grab here and there.

The signage take down continues! President Kenny was out today finishing off the upper half of the Genier Loop (L101). Snow is still waste deep off the trail but the water is pooling all over and if we wait any longer we won't be able to get across the flooded areas!

Volunteer with your club they said.. it will be fun they said! ๐Ÿคฃ

VP Jeff was out today on a solo mission, equipped with one of our club Skandics and boggan, as we begin our sign and stake removal for the season. There is still a TON of snow out there, and water running under it.. how do we know that? Well almost everytime Jeff had to step to the side of the trail base to grab a stake, he sunk down to his hip and pulled out a wet boot ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

Jeff managed to remove all signs on the Cochrane loop (L109), and made it halfway up the Genier loop (L101). He quickly realized that rotten snow and a continually heavier sleigh filled with signs and slush is a bad combination, and before he knew it, he was buried pretty good ๐Ÿคฃ. After he finally got himself out, he decided he would head back to town.

It's a double edged sword because one thought would be to wait another week for more of the snowpack to melt to make it easier to remove signage and stakes. The problem is at that point there will likely be a ton more water, and areas that can't be crossed by sled, which would involve trailering to each portion of trail which no one wants to do. So? We continue with the original plan.

Jeff will be back out over the weekend to get the rest of our temporary signage removed, this time equipped with a helper on another sled so if and when he gets stuck, he has a much easier time getting out!

We still have the remainder of L101, TOP A West, A106C and A103 to take down.

As always, we will keep you posted of our adventures ๐Ÿ˜†.

Warning.. this is a long one! Please read to the end as we have a favour to ask ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

Well folksโ€ฆ thatโ€™s all she wrote. Our trails have now been marked as unavailable (closed/red) for the 2025-2026 season, and reflected as such on the ITG. And what a season it was!

We kicked things off on December 9th with our first open trail, and rode right through until today, April 13th. Thatโ€™s over 4 months of incredible riding, and without a doubt one of the best seasons weโ€™ve seen in recent history!

This winter threw everything at us. Historic snowfall in December that even Cochrane locals havenโ€™t seen in their lifetime, followed by storm after storm right into April. Our operators were constantly battling the elements, re-establishing trails, fixing breakdowns, and putting in long hours to keep our trail system in top shape. And they delivered!

Our two groomers logged a combined ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’ ๐ก๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฌ this season. At an average grooming speed of 12 km/h, that means we To put that into perspectiveโ€ฆ thatโ€™s like driving from Cochrane to the bottom of Panama and back, and then all the way to Anchorage, Alaska ๐Ÿ˜†. Let that sink in.

Now, we know what many of you are thinkingโ€ฆ โ€œ๐“๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐žโ€™๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ญ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ฌ๐ง๐จ๐ฐ!โ€ And youโ€™re right โ€” the first few photos here show exactly what conditions look like today. We still have a TON of snow in the bush. But creeks are starting to run, open areas are melting quickly, and with double digit highs this week and more rain, conditions will deteriorate fast. Snowpacks will collapse in a matter of days, and for the safety of all riders, itโ€™s time to call it a season.

A season like this doesnโ€™t happen without an incredible team behind the scenes. First off, a huge thank you to our club executive and members who go above and beyond year after year to make this all possible.

To our ๐ ๐ซ๐จ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ ๐จ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ, you guys are the best! Long days, late nights, breakdowns, brutal weatherโ€ฆ and no matter what, you always show up. We canโ€™t thank you enough.

To our ๐ฏ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ, both local and those who travel up to lend a hand, you are what makes this club special. From signage and trail setup, to flooding, wood delivery, and filling in on grooming shifts, youโ€™ve been going non-stop since December!

To our ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐๐จ๐ฐ๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ, thank you for trusting us and continuing to allow access to your land. Without you, there is no trail system!

And to our ๐›๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ, your continued support year after year plays a massive role in keeping this operation running. We truly appreciate it.

To all the sledders who came from near and far, thank you for choosing Polar Bear Riders and the Northern Corridor du Nord as your destination. We hope you experienced what we strive to deliver every season - ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐'๐ฌ #๐Ÿ ๐ฌ๐ง๐จ๐ฐ๐ฆ๐จ๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ž ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ฅ๐ฌ!

The work doesnโ€™t stop here. Over the coming weeks weโ€™ll be in full take-down mode, followed by off-season planning to do it all over again next winter. Weโ€™re already counting down the days until next season!

If you rode our trails this season, drop your ๐Ÿ๐š๐ฏ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ž ๐ฉ๐ก๐จ๐ญ๐จ ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐ž๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ in the comments. Letโ€™s see what this season looked like through your lens!

Thank you again to everyone who played a part in making this season unforgettable.

Have a great summer โ€” weโ€™ll see you back on the trails next season!

Grooming Update! The final one?

Yesterday, Operator Dan had the honours of taking (what most likely was) the last grooming run of the season in our 2022 Prinoth Bison. He groomed the Genier Loop (L101) as well as the L109 around town.

Our trails are in great condition as we await what mother nature has in store for us. The Weather Network is calling for 10-15cm tonight and then spring temperatures through the weekend. It's going to be a gourgeous weekend to ride, that's forsure, so get out and enjoy it while we have it folks!

Grooming and Trails Update! The Good and the Bad.

Who would have thought we would have some of the best conditions all season in April! Our trails are in great shape and almost all have been groomed since the recent 4 inch dump we got last week.

Yesterday, Operator Dan groomed TOP A West to Greenwater and the L105 up to the Calhoun Fire Tower in the Prinoth Bison.

Operator Elwood left yesterday am and the plan WAS to make it to Base Camp Abitibi Canyon in the Pistenbully 400 Trail for what would have been the last trip up for the season based on the temperatures coming. Unfortunately.. things do not always go to plan. Elwood almost made it to the Island Falls Den (warm up shack 1/2 way up), and noticed a fairly large tear in the inner belt of the driver's side track as well as broken bolts in one cleat. The call was made for him to turn around and attempt to limp the machine back to town, or at least to the Gardiner Ferry crossing. The good news? He made it back to town and the machine is now in our shop. This will be a big job and will take place during the off season, which means that unfortunately, we are down to only our Bison for the remainder of the season.

That being said, on a positive note, we are into our final days of grooming, so if we were going to be down a machine, now is the time. The 14 day forecast does not appear to be conducive for grooming based on daytime highs above 0 and night-time lows barely below zero. We will attempt to groom where able, and we will keep our trails open to ride for as long as it is safe to do so.

We don't have a crystal ball, but we anticipate our trails remaining open through the weekend (so no worries for those coming up this weekend). The forecast is calling for snow tomorrow and then a chance of significant rain on Monday. One thing is for sure.. Saturday and Sunday will be beautiful days to ride with the above zero temps and the April sun. True spring riding at its finest!

Of course, we will monitor our trails on a daily basis and call it a season only when the conditions demand it.
