Due to the worsening weather forecast and significant snowfall, the 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐠 has declared both a Significant Weather Event and a Snow Event.

🚫 No parking is permitted on any municipal roads i.e. Burnham Street or Westwood Drive, during this time.
🚗 Vehicles parked on municipal roadways may be ticketed or towed to allow snowplows to operate safely and efficiently.

Please help keep roads clear and crews safe by removing vehicles from the roadways. 🙏

A long-time Westwood resident of 20 years, Desi Sedore, passed away far too young on January 17, 2026, after an incredibly sudden and devastating illness. Desi leaves behind his wife, Amanda, and their 4 children, who are now facing unimaginable grief and hardship.

This family has been an active part of our community for many years, and during this profoundly difficult time, they need support—whether through a kind message, practical help, or a donation if you are able.

🚨 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 – 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐭 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 🚨
We’ve been advised by our snow removal contractors that there is a 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞-𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞 affecting Ontario and parts of the U.S. Due to extremely high usage last winter and transportation limits on the Great Lakes, salt supplies are very limited and are being prioritized for highways and municipal roads.

❄️ 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐮𝐦𝐬:
> Crews will be using a 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝/𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐱 instead of straight salt
> You may notice 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐞 on parking lots and lanes
> Surfaces may not look as “black and wet” as usual
> The mix improves 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲, but does not melt ice as aggressively as pure salt
⚠️ 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲, and conditions will continue to be monitored closely.

🚜❄️ Snow Clearing Reminder for Westwood Residents ❄️🚗

When you see the snow plow on-site, please move your vehicle if you would like general parking spaces fully cleared of snow.

As shown in the photos below 👇, the plow can only properly clear vacant spots. Vehicles left in place prevent full snow removal and leave packed snow and ice behind.

✅ A few minutes of cooperation helps keep parking safer and more accessible for everyone.

The Town of Cobourg, Ontario Works Division has shared the schedule for Christmas tree collection, along with a few important reminders to ensure safe and efficient pickup.

📅 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐮𝐩 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞
• Collection is planned to begin 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (weather permitting)
• Please place your tree on Westwood Drive curb by 𝟖:𝟎𝟎 𝐚.𝐦. 𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟐
• Pickup is expected to be completed by Friday, January 16

✅ Do not wrap your tree in plastic
✅ Remove all metal, ornaments, tree stands, tinsel, and decorations
✅ Ensure trees are clear of snow and ice
✅ Place trees where they are easily accessible for collection
✅ Do not leave your trees on the complex laneways or in garbage bins!

🌱 What happens to your tree?
Collected trees are composted and mulched and reused by Town divisions for:
• Newly planted trees
• Street and parking lot gardens
• Dog park pathways

Every holiday season, our garbage bin fills up fast with 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐱𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐬 — and sometimes even overflows. 😬📦

✨ 𝐀 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫:
👉 Cardboard belongs in recycling, not the garbage bin.
👉 Please break down your boxes before disposal — it takes just a moment!
👉 When the bin overflows above the rim, we’re charged extra, and that’s a cost we all share. 💸

By simply flattening your boxes and storing them until recycling day, we can keep our community cleaner, avoid extra fees, and do something good for the environment. 🌍💙

📣 Westwood Condominium Community Notice

We’re disappointed to share photos taken today showing our garbage bin overflowing with items that should not have been placed there — including wicker patio furniture, cardboard, and other recyclables.

🚫 Please remember:
Cardboard must go into the recycling bins.

Large items such as patio furniture must be taken directly to the landfill.

Overflowing bins result in extra charges to the condo corporation, and that means we all end up paying for someone else’s improper disposal.

This is especially frustrating as we added two large bins just last week for residents to use for household furnishings.

Great news, Westwood residents — the 𝐁𝐈𝐆 𝐁𝐈𝐍 is coming back for all your unwanted household refuse! Well technically this time there will be 2 bins due to the spring bin overflowing!🎉 This is for residents only! We all pay for this so if you see any non-residents dumping please try to take a pic of their license plate and report it to Genedco.

Please remember:
✅ Do not overfill the bins — Waste Connections will not pick them up if they are overflowing and we have to pay someone extra to crawl in and clean it out before pickup. Remember we do this twice a year so there is an opportunity again in the spring.
✅ Place 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 of the bins so others can fit their items too.
❌ 𝐍𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 (paint, batteries, chemicals, etc.) is NOT allowed.
