- - - CANCELLATION NOTICE - - -
This coming Monday is our general meeting date, and on the agenda is an outing to Buzzing Bee Adventure Farm for Haskap picking. … but there’s a problem! They have experienced their best attendance ever this year, and they are completely picked out already!
The Farm has announced that they need to close their pick-your-own earlier than usual since the Haskaps are pretty much done for the season. We could have carried on with the outing to tour their geodesic greenhouse dome, but the club's Executive Board has agreed that it’s best to cancel and save this outing for next year instead.
So - since it is the height of vacation season as well,
we are cancelling our July meeting date this Monday, and
will come together again for the August meeting date for the Flower Pounding Workshop.

Hope you have some wonderful summer vacation time, and we’ll see you all again in August!

We're really excited about the next event on our 2026 agenda! - an outing to Buzzing Bees Adventure Farm in Sunderland, for a tour of their huge geodesic dome greenhouse, and an intro to Haskap berries - the new fruit that is being called the new "super-berry".

The dome was built through 2021 / 2022 from an Arctic Acres kit, and is large enough to house ponds, beds of tropicals, and raised beds where they grow food year round - as well as host 15-20 people for presentations.

Also in 2021, they planted their Haskap berry orchard filled with 8 different varieties that ripen at different times, that is now coming mature for "pick-your-own" openings from mid June - July. They offer tours for school groups and families to come for the day where the kids can enjoy farm games and adventures, and a huge corn maze for both young and old to get lost in!

Visit their page and browse through the photos there from '21/'22 to watch the greenhouse dome being built, and for other info on this fun "must go" family destination place.

Lots to see and learn, and we hope you'll join us!
Details about our planned adventure are on the photo below.

We’re pleased to announce a new workshop has been added to our 2026 events agenda!

Debara Powers has agreed to lead a workshop on Flower Pounding, where we will make a botanical print from fresh flowers, directly transfered onto a fabric piece. Full details are on the poster below, so I won’t repeat it all here.

It is a fun and easy craft to learn, and you will be making either a zippered canvas pouch that’s just the right size to tuck a book or store your sewing crafts in, or a drawstring muslin bag to carry your spare shoes around in style! The only thing you might want to bring is a few fresh flowers from your garden so you can make a unique design! We will have a supply of basic flowers and greens on hand, but having something in your print that came from your own garden will make it that much more special. :)
Members $35.00 / non-members $45.00
All materials and tools supplied.

We always sell out of our workshops quickly, so email soon to book your spot! Email - [email protected] to register.
2 sessions available - afternoon (2:30 - 4:30), or the evening (6:00 - 8:00) session. Monday August 17th, Saucy Willow Inn.
.. and why not become a member while registering! Then half of the the cost of your workshop fee will be covered at the same time! At just $20.00 for a full year's membership, it is the best bargain in town, offering free admission to all of our monthly educational presentations and discounts on workshops.

Huge load of thanks to all the people who braved the nasty weather to come out and buy a few things at our fundraising plant sale on Saturday! We had tables bursting to the brim, full of lots of nice plants, and by 1:00 there was very little left.

All in all - a successful day - in spite of Mother Nature trying to ruin things with her last blast of cold weather!

But it just couldn't happen without the support, through time and donations, from our volunteer membership and the community! Much thanks to everyone who helped through the day and/or donated plants. Funds raised will go directly to all those beautiful flowers and clean gardens that will adorn the town again in just a week or so.

A special mention goes out to Chuck Clarkson, partner of the late Marlene Simpson of Kirkfield, who allowed a team of club volunteers to dig up some of Marlene's lovely plants for donation to the sale. (Anyone purchase some of those gorgeous Peonies and strong Raspberry plants at the sale? That's the garden they came from. :) )

And last, but very far from least - the success of the day is in large part due to the excellent location generously offered to us by Pam & Keith Balabuck of the Buck 'n Up! Being able to set up in front of their store helped to shelter us from the worst of the wind, and made it easy for cars passing by to see us and stop to buy a few things.

THANK YOU TO ALL!
When community works together, good things happen. :)

The countdown is on!
Our annual Spring Plant Sale is just 2 days away, and we have LOADS of plants coming in! Looks like Mother Nature has a rainy day in store for us, but we're rallying troupes and tents to make the most of the day!

There are LOTS of very nice plants already donated, and we can promise plenty of goodies to hopefully make it worth your while to come and pick up a few things - whether the weather is rain or shine!

We received a donation of some very strong and healthy vegetable plants today, so we'll have LOADS of tomatoes, peppers, herbs, snap beans, drying beans, squash, ... and more available for you!
.. and if you're looking for some plants to do a mass planting on a bank or a slope or somewhere, we have dozens of same type daylilies (not ditch lilies), and hosta available at a bargain bulk purchase price.

Beat the rain and come before the rain starts, or bring your umbrella and shop anytime before 1:00, under the protection of the many tents we'll be setting up under!
