Field Information

In the spring of 1999 the club had it’s official opening of the new flying field. It boasts a 600′ well manicured grass runway complete with underground sprinkler system. Our flying site is wide open with no plane grabbing trees or high fences to strain your plane through. The flying field is well cared for during the summer months. The winter months also see some flying and fri

endly discussion around the wood stove in the “shack”. This occurs on the nicer days of winter. The Windy West club field is located 5 miles South East of Coaldale. Take highway #845 South from Coaldale for 6.5 km and turn East onto Township road 8-4 for 1.5 km. Then turn South on Range Road 20-1 which will take you to the club field. Its GPS location is 49 39′ 10.30″N 112 35′ 55.93″ W

We are very proud of our new club field which features a well manicured 600′ runway complete with an underground sprinkler system. Flying visitors require a current MAAC or AMA membership.

Pat Bjorn sent in pictures of his beautiful monoplane that he recently built from a short kit. The engine is an OS Max S30 that is over 40 years old! The designer is Doc Mathews and the model was featured in RCM back in 1980. We look forward to hearing how this little beauty flys!! Well done Pat 😎

This past Sunday was favoured with gorgeous weather and a good turn out for an impromptu combat/funfly event. Heinz flew his lovely scratch built "Buffalo" twin engine model with a 62" wingspan and weighing 8 lbs and using a 4S battery.

There will be a combat event at the club field this coming Sunday, June 5th. Non combat planes are welcome as well and the weather forecast is looking good but be sure to bring your bug spray!
