Thanks to all the volunteers that have been cleaning up trails this spring. Rock Lobster is in the best shape in years.

If you are looking to do some raking Pub Feed and middle of Higher Ground (bottom and top are done) are next priorities.

Mountain Bike Trail Update

We had a great turnout at the trail work day Sat.

There is still some raking to do. When raking use a soft tine rake, raking from high side to lower side of the trail, focusing on pine cones, leaves and sticks, needles can stay.

Trail that still need a good rake include:
- Brainshake lower
- Rock Lobster lower
- Pub Feed

Open - Everything except Higher Ground!

The Wells Gray Outdoor Club is interested in your opinion regarding the dog trails at the Candle Creek XC ski network. The WGOC currently has approximately 7 km of dog trails.
The WGOC last surveyed members in February 2024 and after a presentation by a WGOC member, would like to collect input again. We appreciate your input as it will allow the Board to make a decision based on input from users.
The survey will be open until the end of April.

The WGOC executive is considering expanding the ski trails that dogs are allowed on. As there are pros and cons to expanding the dog trails we would like input from members before we make a decision. If you are unsure which trails are currently open to dogs please refer to the map on the Wells Gray....

MARCH 31
Mountain Bike Trails Report

Yes - snow is melting off some of the lower trails!
Yes - trails are soft, and not yet ready for riding.
As trails are ready they will be posted open at the parking lot kiosks and updated on Trailforks https://www.trailforks.com/region/candle-creek/reports/

RULES OF THUMB
1. If walking leaves a foot print the trail is too soft for riding.
2. It generally takes one week of dry weather after snowmelt for trails to dry and harden.
3. South sloping Ridge Zone trails generally dry out first.
4. Trails such as Convoy, Fiddlers Green, and Greasy Jungle have clay and take longer to dry.

If you are eager to get out on the trails it is a great time to take a tool for a walk:
- clean drains
- remove debris
- remove blow down

Thankyou from the WGOC for respecting trail closures and the work of volunteers each year.
Happy Trails!
