Strengthening Road Safety
Help shape the future of safer roads and communities in Newfoundland and Labrador!
Have your say on potential changes to Newfoundland and Labrador's Highway Traffic Act. The Provincial Government is seeking feedback on four areas that affect road users across the province.
Those areas are:
• E-bikes, e-scooters and other micro-mobility devices
• Car and booster seats for children
• Bicycle safety for children
• Driving schools
While the consultation will focus on these areas, you are encouraged to share feedback on any road safety issue you feel should be considered.
The consultation is open until Thursday, September 3, 2026, and we want to hear your thoughts.

We have received reports of a phishing email that appeared to originate from an Eastern Regional Service Board (ERSB) email address. After investigation, we have confirmed that this email was not sent by ERSB.
Additional Information
Please be advised that the Eastern Regional Service Board does not accept e-mail money transfers as a method of payment and would never ask residents to send money via email transfer in response to an unsolicited message.

If you have received a suspicious email claiming to be from ERSB, we encourage you to:
• Do not click any links or open any attachments.
• Do not send any payments or provide personal information.
• Delete the message and report it as phishing through your email provider.

We take the privacy and security of our residents seriously. Our team is actively monitoring the situation and investigating the source of these fraudulent messages. We remain committed to protecting personal information and maintaining the integrity of our communications.

Poverty Reduction and Prevention Strategy

The Department of Social Supports and Well-Being has commenced development of a Poverty Reduction and Prevention Strategy and would like your input. The Strategy will help to reduce poverty rates to the lowest in Canada by 2036.

This engagement will focus on prevention and the root causes of poverty, and seek regionally informed, actionable ideas and solutions. Input collected through engageNL will help inform priorities for the new Strategy.

Forest Management Agreement and Commercial Timber Licence Consultation
Greetings,
The Department of Forestry, Agriculture and Lands is seeking public feedback on a proposed 20-year Forest Management Agreement with Sexton Lumber Company Ltd., which includes issuing a 20-year Crown Timber Licence to the company.
Sexton Lumber has requested to enter into a 20-year Forest Management Agreement with the province for a non-exclusive area of forest in central Newfoundland.
The agreement and accompanying Crown Timber Licence would offer Sexton Lumber the security of a long-term timber supply and enable the company to invest in its sawmill infrastructure and the timber resource.

As we approach the summer months, the Department of Environment, Conservation & Climate Change – Water Resources Management Division would like to remind all communities across Newfoundland and Labrador of the potential for water shortages due to seasonal conditions.

We kindly ask that you begin preparing by:
• Encouraging water conservation practices
• Monitoring local water supply levels closely
• Reviewing and updating any local contingency plans

To support your efforts, we encourage you to review our Water Conservation Resources, which include practical tips and fact sheets for both communities and residents:

These resources highlight the importance of reducing water use, including:
• Checking for and repairing leaks
• Identifying sources of high-water usage
• Avoiding unnecessary outdoor water use
• Turning off taps when not in use

Reporting Water Shortages:
If your community is currently experiencing a water shortage—or anticipates needing to use an alternative water source—please notify us as soon as possible. This helps ensure appropriate support and coordination.

Facility Reopening Notification_Clarenville Transfer Station

Please be advised that the Clarenville Transfer Station will be open for regular business hours Friday June 19, following a fire at the facility building on June 17 that caused it to close.

The fire is suspected to have been caused by a battery disposed of in household waste. Residents are reminded that batteries must not be placed in regular garbage and should be taken to designated drop-off locations.
