Members of the Clan MacNeil in the Atlantic Provinces are asked to pause in honour of the passing of our Past President, Michael MacNeil, on February 19th.
For many of us, Micheal was the only President that we knew; he served the Clan for years with a generous smile and a strong work ethic. May he rest in peace knowing that he had the respect and love of Clan members and may there be no end to the tea and biscuits served at his table. We offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
We have attached a photo of our wonderful executive from a few years back, at the head table of a Clan MacNeil AP meeting held at the Christmas Island Fire Hall:
L to r: Dolena MacKinnon, Secretary; Michael MacNeil, President; and Kaye MacDonald, Treasurer.

Atlantic MacNeils are heading into what are often the two most stormy months of the year, when spring really can't come soon enough. At the same time, the world has apparently gone quite mad.
Dear MacNeils, please be gentle with yourselves, check in on your fellow MacNeils, and do be kind to your neighbours. If we all look out for each other, we can weather the next couple of months.
Our first Clan MacNeil AP meeting is usually held in April - see you then!

Wishing all MacNeils, their families, and friends, a very Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year!

The Clan MacNeil was well represented by this Christmas tree on display at Àros na Mara Discovery Centre, as part of the 2nd Christmas by the Waters of Iona Festival.

How many other tartans can you identify? Are you putting any MacNeil ornaments on your Christmas tree? Let us know in the comments below.

Thanks to everyone who attended our AGM this past weekend; it was a great turn-out and the lunch was one of the best ever. We even had one MacNeil drive all the way from Dartmouth!

Our heartfelt gratitude is extended to our Past President, Michael MacNeil, who is retiring at a very grand age indeed. We all appreciate his stalwart leadership and gentle manner - thank you from each and every member of the Clan.

We welcome our new President, Patricia MacNeil, who is heading up a brand new slate of officers. A lively discussion took place regarding the Clan’s plans for 2026 – stay tuned to learn more!

Our next meeting will be in April, when we will start to plan our summer events. See you there!

In Flanders Fields
By John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
