Since its founding in 2019, the Well of Plenty has trained over 2.7k farmers across 3 Sub-Saharan African countries and counting. Read Doug's story sharing how, after decades of leading businesses, he was winding down activities and in its space the Lord presented an invitation to serve in a place where these exact skills would prove invaluable.

🌱 Have you seen our impact report? Highlights include 2,789 farmers trained, 1,076 kitchen gardens created and 820 pail kits distributed to date!

Malawi consistently ranks among the “poorest countries” in the world, from global poverty indices such as GDP per capita and GNI per capita, to multidimensional poverty measures—consistently showing extremely low incomes, widespread deprivation, and slow structural economic growth.

We’re working towards - and indeed are creating lasting transformation. The Well of Plenty’s training, infrastructure development, and community gardens are enabling some of ‘the least’ to change the trajectory of their lives, that of their family, their communities and laying foundations for the generations to come.

Together with practical hands-on learning in the gardens, we lead the Pastor, elected farm manager and all gardening community members through theory training. This gives all involved parties the knowledge and ability to make informed choices, to independently problem solve and have a toolkit of strategies for further growth.

Topics covered include:
• Farming as a family
• Drip irrigation Installation and maintenance
• Pail drip irrigation kit application and maintenance
• Growing a healthy vegetable garden in containers
• Business training

🌱 Well of Plenty has trained 2,789 people in organic, high-yield farming - that’s over two and a half thousand families that now have an ongoing food supply that they have proudly grown.

The crops grown mean your family don’t have to fear if another meal is coming, their nutrition is diverse and health strengthened, and the yields so bountiful that they can share and sell to generate an income, in turn enabling the children to attend school.

Our heartfelt thanks to each donor that has made this possible. We eagerly look forward to seeing all the more food secure and economically empowered.

🐘📷 In 2024, Apologetics Canada partnered with the Well of Plenty Foundation to explore the intersection of faith, technology, and sustainable development. Spending 10 days travelling across Malawi, the AC and Well of Plenty teams were joined by a handful of volunteers that would together see how Christians were at the centre of technology-led transformation. Today we share Jennie’s account of that trip and how her journey with Well of Plenty continues.

🐇 You may wish to notify your teachers that there’s another kind of calculus to study and that’s bunny math. Addition equals exponential multiplication, which enables communities to quickly share the bunny-fits around.

Rabbits typically have litters of around 5-7 kits, though there could be as many as 12! With a gestation period of just a month, and a doe eager to, well, breed like a rabbit, it’s not uncommon to have several litters in a season.

Well of Plenty coach communities in organic, self-sustaining and high-yield farming. After the first few harvests, animals can be added to create a natural closed-loop cycle.

At our sites you may find rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, pigs and tilapia fish, all providing protein to improve diet, and an income stream that often translates to children going to school where it was previously cost-prohibitive. Moreover, animal and fish production provides manure as organic fertilizer used for crop production, saving the cost of manufactured fertilizers but also builds soil nutrients naturally.

Would you consider activating a family’s journey by donating a rabbit for $10 today? Visit wellofplenty.com to donate today.

🐇Rabbits bring many bunny-fits to a farm and family; fed scraps from the gardens, the animals create a closed-loop system that boost crops and soil health with their nutrient rich manure. The rabbits also offer a revenue generation stream and are a much-needed source of protein.

Could you donate a rabbit for $10 today and join the mission of building resilient communities that are food secure and economically empowered?

🌱 The Well of Plenty Foundation began in 2019 after a pivotal encounter at an Elisha Revolution crusade in Lilongwe, Malawi. A local bishop asked Canadian business leader Doug what it would take to lift Malawi out of food and economic poverty. That question sparked a return trip with a suitcase of drip‑irrigation parts and a meeting with Moses, a Malawian computer‑science graduate and social‑enterprise founder. Together they drilled the first well, built the first demonstration garden, and trained local farmers—who soon saw unprecedented yields and new income opportunities.

By 2020, the model expanded through church‑based sponsorships that funded starter kits for families. Recipients reinvested their surplus harvests to buy more kits for others. From 2021–2023, the work scaled across Malawi through partnerships with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Malawi, training pastors in agriculture and business so they could replicate the model nationwide. The foundation also supported the launch of Fruitful Mart, a distribution co-operative connecting farmer groups to high‑value buyers. Expansion has since reached the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi.
