Meet Coach Derrek Halicki, head coach of our U8 flag Golden Bears. These are our littlest guys in the program, getting their first taste of football before tackle season comes calling.

Derrek grew up playing football, starting at just 5 years old and playing right up until he was 18 for North Surrey Minor Football.

“I just love being around the game of football and if I can help the next generation love the game as much as I do, I've done my job as coach.”

It was an interesting weekend for the 2026 Chillibowl.

Saturday's games were called due to air quality, which meant our U8 flag and Junior Bantam teams didn't get the chance to take the field. We know how much work went into getting ready for this tournament and we're proud of how everyone handled the disappointment.

But Sunday brought clear skies which meant our P*e Wee and Atom teams were able to show up for Langley. Congratulations to all three teams for bringing home those medals!

Atom Golden Bears brought home Gold.

P*e Wee Black Bears brought home Bronze.

Thank you to the organizers, officials, and volunteers who adjusted on the fly to make Sunday happen.

Meet Coach Dan Martin, head coach of our U8 Flag Black Bears. These are the youngest kids in the program, learning the game before they move into tackle.

Dan's started his football journey at the Junior Bantam level with the Meadow Ridge Knights and went on to play for SFU.

"What made me want to coach was being able to pass on my love of the game and the knowledge I've accumulated to the next generation."

Rep after rep, our players and coaches continue to put in the work, developing their skills and strengthening their teamwork.
