Our Rotary Club of Chilliwack Fraser is pleased to welcome Kyle Lorteau as our newest member!

President Tammy welcomed Kyle to the club, highlighting how his compassion, commitment to helping others and willingness to make a difference reflect the heart of Rotary and this year’s theme, “Create Lasting Impact.”

Jackie Smith will be Kyle’s Rotary mentor, helping him settle into the club and learn more about Rotary and the work we do in our community.

MEET OUR MEMBER: GERRY ENNS

Gerry Enns has been a member of Chilliwack Fraser Rotary for 24 years. He joined because he wanted to give back through an organization he knew could make a difference.

What Gerry enjoys most about being a Rotarian is giving back to our community and the fellowship he shares with fellow members.

One of his favourite Rotary moments is presenting the funds raised through the travel lottery to the recipient. Seeing their gratitude and knowing what those funds will help them accomplish makes it especially rewarding.

Outside of Rotary, Gerry enjoys working on his hot rods, golfing, spending time with his lovely wife and participating in other volunteer work.

And something you might not know about Gerry? He started his working life in the automotive industry after high school before moving into construction, where he spent 40 years.

We’re fortunate to have Gerry as part of our Rotary club and appreciate his 24 years of service and commitment to our community.

Rotarian of the Month: Dave Dyble

Congratulations to Dave Dyble, our Rotarian of the Month!

Dave regularly leads our club in the invocation at our weekly meetings, and we’re pleased to recognize him with a plaque and a delicious homemade apple pie baked by Tammy’s mom.

A great day of volunteering at the Sardis Secondary Farm!

Our Rotary Club members helped harvest an incredible 3,800 pounds of food that will be donated to the Salvation Army to support people in our community.

And of course, Ernie kept things entertaining with a little dumpster adventure! 😂

Thank you to Tammy, Warren, Bright, Thomas, Emanuela, Ernie and Andrea for pitching in and making it such a fun and rewarding day.

Great teamwork for a great cause!

Please join us in welcoming our newest member, Bright John, who was officially inducted into the Rotary Club of Chilliwack Fraser yesterday.

As our President shared during Bright’s induction, every Rotarian brings something unique to our club. Bright brings a unique combination of entrepreneurship, community service and a passion for supporting youth in care.

Bright will be mentored by fellow Rotarian John Halsall, a charter member who has been part of Rotary since 1983. We know John will be a great mentor as Bright begins his Rotary journey.

A great new resource for our community is now open! The Salvation Army’s new Client Choice Food Bank offers a shop-style experience where clients can choose the items they need for their monthly hamper.

Our Rotary Club of Chilliwack Fraser was proud to support the project through our Community Project grant, helping provide the shelving for the new store.

Warren Schatz welcomed everyone and thanked the many community partners and supporters who helped make this new space possible. It was wonderful to see the project come to life!

This Wednesday we're welcoming Warren Mirko, Executive Director and Founder of Public Land Use Society

Crown land makes up more than 95% of BC. Warren's work is about keeping it accessible for recreation, resource work and the people who rely on it, and making sure the public has a voice when decisions about access are made.

He brings 15+ years in public relations, crisis response and risk management with regulators like BC Financial Services Authority and Transport Canada. He's also a Councillor in the Village of Warfield.

If you hike, hunt, fish, ride or just love getting out into the backcountry, come hear this one. Guests are always welcome.

MEET OUR MEMBER: BRIAN WIERKS

Brian Wierks joined Chilliwack Fraser Rotary about 20 years ago after being proposed by Nigel Argyle.

Brian admits he initially joined Rotary for the wrong reason. He wanted to get to know the movers and shakers in Chilliwack. He quickly discovered that Rotary was about much more than networking. It was about serving the community and making a difference through action.

Over the years, Brian has made many friends through Rotary, some of them lifelong. Working side by side with fellow Rotarians to build a better world has become one of his favourite parts of being a member.

While Brian is proud of what Rotary has accomplished in our local community, international projects have been especially meaningful to him. He believes these projects can change lives and help build a better world, particularly for those most vulnerable, including women and children.

Although semi-retired, Brian remains a director with his group of companies. In his spare time, he enjoys playing with cars and working on his golf game.

And something you might not know about Brian? He originally went to university to become a schoolteacher. After being offered a full-time position by his uncles at Canex, he decided to put teaching on hold until he had saved some money. That was 42 years ago!

We’re fortunate to have Brian as part of our Rotary club and appreciate the experience, friendships and commitment he brings to our community.
