The Chilliwack Amateur Radio club is once again offering the Basic Amateur Radio course on Saturday Sep 19. It begins at 9:00 a.m. We review the study guide chapter by chapter with a short quiz after each one. Lunch and morning/afternoon breaks are included; class typically wraps up around 5:00 p.m. The exam will be held on Sunday Sep 20 starting at 1 pm. Come on down to the clubhouse and try calling CQ. The bands were long earlier this month and it may be time to make those contacts in far-away places. Texas, South Carolina, California and New Jersey were contacted earlier this month. 7 pm tonight at the clubhouse 5725 Tyson Road.

Come on out to the Chilliwack Amateur Radio Clubhouse on Thursday July 30 at 7 pm to hang out and play with our radios. The bands were open earlier this week (80 meters was great on Wednesday and 40 meters was open on Monday evening).
VA7DTN (Tim) will be bringing enough stuff to make a 20 meter dipole for a POTA activation. It's a chance to play with RF and a home made antenna.

Monday Night is the Chilliwack Amateur Radio Emergency Roll Call Net. The net starts at 7:00 pm PT on the VE7RCK repeater (147.100 + T110.9).
Since this is the last Monday of the month, the net will include a simplex test at 147.100 no offset, no tone, and a test of the VA7CRC repeater (146.90 - T110.9).
Tonight's net control is VA7DTN and will be done from the Clubhouse on Tyson Road. The clubhouse will be opened at 6:30 PT if anyone would like to drop in and help out, or just watch and learn

Thanks to Brad and Doug for bringing the antenna and radio so we could try and contact the ISS when it went overhead. We made several contacts through another satellite as a repeater as well as the ISS in repeater mode.

Brad brought along our newly acquired Fox Hunting transmitters and receivers that we set up in the park to try out. The kids enjoyed searching for the Fox.

Special thanks to Brad and his family for bringing pizza and salads for this impromptu event. We look forward to more events like this in the future. Check out our FB posts for planned and unplanned events.
