Lady Peak and Mt. Cheam
Another opportunity has presented itself for me to attempt activating these two summits. I set out for them in early September but had to turn back for various reasons.
Last weekend they got a fair bit of snow and I thought the season might be done but I looked today and they are bare. Tomorrow’s forecast is more agreeable than not and so I will go.
I will use 2m FM (announcing on VE7RCK, VE7RVA and VE7RMR) and also CW on 20m and 40m. I anticipate being in the summit of Lady Peak around 1130 loc and then Mt. Cheam about 1400-1430.

The enrollment for our Amateur Radio Basic Qualification course will be closing tonight at 9:00 pm. There's still a couple spaces available.

Come on down to the clubhouse and try calling CQ. The bands were long earlier this month and it may be time to make those contacts in far-away places. 7 pm tonight at the clubhouse 5725 Tyson Road.

The Chilliwack Amateur Radio club is offering the Basic Amateur Radio Course on Saturday Sep 19. It begins at 9:00 a.m. We review the study guide chapter by chapter with a short quiz after each one. Lunch and morning/afternoon breaks are included; class typically wraps up around 5:00 p.m. The exam will be held on Sunday Sep 20 starting at 1 pm. At noon today, Tuesday Sep 1, Bruce Cairnie is hiking up to Lady Peak and Mt Cheam to activate a SOTA event on 2 meters. He's expected to be on Lady Peak at noon and Mt Cheam at 3 pm. He'll call out on 146.55 and 146.58 and activating on 146.52.

This Monday Night is the Chilliwack Amateur Radio Emergency Roll Call Net. The net starts at 7:00 pm PT on the VE7RCK repeater (147.100 + T110.9).
Since this is the last Monday of the month, the net will include a simplex test at 147.100 no offset, no tone, and a test of the VA7CRC repeater (146.90 - T110.9).
Tonight's net control is VA7DTN and will be done from the Clubhouse on Tyson Road. The clubhouse will be opened at 6:30 PT if anyone would like to drop in and help out, or just watch and learn. After the regular net is completed, we'll be trying contacts on 40 meters (7120 ish) - frequency to be determined at the end of the 2 meter net.
