Wilma's Transition Society Wilma's Transition Society is a nonprofit offering safe housing for women and children, as well as community supports.

Join Wilma's Transition house in the vision to create a violence free society by being an integral part of the greater world-wide vision to end family violence, by cultivating opportunities for empowerment, independence and self-discovery. Wilma's Transition House, formerly known as Xolhemet Society was created in 1988 as a Non-profit Incorporated Society, dedicated solely to providing services to victims of family violence through support, advocacy and education. In 1991 Wilma's Transition House opened an 18-bed Transition House for women and children affected by family violence. The Transition House is operated as a free, safe and temporary shelter. In 1996 Wilma's Transition House opened a 5 unit Second Stage Housing Program for women and children, who are in the process of creating a safe and healthy environment for themselves. Which can require a longer term stay than a Transition House can provide. All services operated by Wilma's Transition House are available to all ethnicities.

The holiday season is just around the corner and Wilma’s is once again preparing for our annual Christmas Hamper Program!

Each year we partner with generous businesses, agencies, organizations and individuals to help bring a little extra joy to the women and children who access our services.

Last year with the incredible support of our community, we were able to provide 49 full Christmas Hampers to support 135 individuals!

We are now looking for Christmas Hamper Sponsors for the 2026 holiday season. Whether you are a business, organization, group, family or individual there are many ways you can get involved.

Every contribution, big or small helps us make Christmas brighter for families in our community.

Help harvest fresh produce for The Salvation Army Chilliwack at the Fall Harvest on October 8. Gather a team or come solo and bring in the remaining crops from the Farm before winter arrives. RSVP by October 6 to participate.

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We wear orange to honour residential school survivors, their families, and those who didn't make it home.

We encourage you to attend an event, like the School District No. 33 - Chilliwack Fifth Annual Orange Shirt Day Pow Wow , or consider other ways to further your personal learning journey. https://loom.ly/bzC0cbo

Please note that City Hall, the Bailey Landfill, and Parr Road Green Depot will be closed for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
