Spring Tip: Clear Your Deck and Gutters Before the Heat Hits

One of the simplest and most important things you can
do right now is remove flammable debris from your deck, balcony, and gutters.

Dry leaves, pine needles, and accumulated yard debris are prime kindling for windblown embers, which are responsible for the majority of home ignitions during wildfires.

Take an afternoon in June to:
Clear leaves and debris from gutters.
Sweep off your deck and remove anything stored underneath it.
Store patio cushions and furniture inside when not in use.
Move firewood at least 10 metres from the house.

Take a look at the FireSmart BC Begins With You Guide for more seasonal tips.
