The Energizer Night on September 9 at the Chestermere Recreation Centre brought so many positive people and community agencies together. The ideas, exchanges, sharing, popcorn and candy kept spirits high renewing hope for what is a truly unique community. Special thanks to Little Lake Locals for running the event.
Community members came to discover the array of community agencies at work to support their youth and families in Chestermere. Although information and signups were vital, popcorn, candy, and fruit were definitely key motivation pieces.

In the mix, the Rotary Club of Chestermere members, Maury Quinney, Carey Hilgartner, and Kiran Randhawa, enjoyed the event and took full advantage of the night to socialize and connect. In the spirit of fellowship, potential members and Friends of Rotary inquired at the table. As well, we were able to connect with many of the community agencies about potential collaboration and partnership into the future.

The Chestermere Regional Food Bank Drive this last Saturday, August 29 at No Frills was a success.
Happy volunteers from the Chestermere Food Bank, the Punjabi Bazurg Society, the Men's Shed, the Chestermere Fire Department, and the Rotary Club of Chestermere showed up. Special thanks to Mayor Shannon Dean for participating. Donation lists were handed out the front door. Hot dogs from the bbq and beverages from the cooler were distributed. Under the tent, friendly conversations were had. The donation bin was filled five times and then loaded into the van. Cash donations filled the box. Kids, teens, couples, and families all brought food to the bin with smile.
It would be impossible to have been there and not left with a big smile and love for neighbours.

The Chestermere Interagency group gathered for a BBQ out on the lake at the John Peake Park on August 27 from 12:30 PM to 2 PM.
Burgers (beef, veggie, and chicken) were enjoyed by all. Conversations flowed at a beautiful and tranquil spot with peers.

The Interagency BBQ was a much needed get-together, so everyone could relate, relax, and fuel up for the coming year.

Special thanks to the Interagency Team and Community Services at the City of Chestermere for hosting the event. Additional thanks to James
Marriott and the Men's Shed for pitching in.

See everyone at next year's Interagency BBQ.

Mingling and bingoing happened at the Not-For-Profit Committee Mixer on August 13. Acquaitances were renewed, friends were made, conversations of hope were shared. Despite the rain, the group ate the tasty appetizers, drank the punch, and chatted in a beautiful home.

The Not-for-Profit Committee Mixer was a success for everyone. It was social. It was casual. It was a good way to unwind and celebrate the good work the not-for-profit committee does in the community of Chestermere.

The connection bingo kept everybody circulating and asking questions. Mardi Oel won first prize, Atma Singh Gill took second prize, and Michell Evans secured third prize. To finish the night, Janak Singh would take home the door prize.

Sonja Leduc was a magnificent host at her wondrous house providing food and drinks aplenty. Special thanks to A. Leduc Developments for sponsoring the food and event.

The Rotary Club of Chestermere and the Chestermere Lakefront Owner's Association look forward to hosting next year's Not-For-Committee Mixer. If interested in contributing to planning, be sure to reach out to Sonja Leduc ([email protected]) or Carey Hilgartner ([email protected]).

Meals on Wheels, Chestermere Food Bank, and Chicken Dinner at the Chestermere Whitecappers Association

Good food and fun was had at the Whitecappers Chicken Dinner night with presentations from Calgary Meals on Wheels and the Chestermere Region Food Bank. This friendly social and informative event was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Chestermere.

The Chestermere Whitecappers Association hosted their Chicken Dinner for members and non-members to enjoy. The chicken and salads were tasty and filling. Neighbours were able to chat and connect. Of note, the Whitecappers board delivered this dinner as a thanks and relief for the regular serving group. Door prizes and raffles were held to add spark to the occassion.

To add to the night, Pam Derowin, programs manager, presented an update on Calgary Meals and Wheels. She discussed the growing impact the service has shown in Calgary and area. She spoke to the quality of the meals and the positive benefits of meals to families, seniors and children.

To continue, Mardi Oel, executive director, spoke about the Chestermere Region Food bank and its critical programs and services in the community. She also indicated that the Chestermere Region Food Bank handled the delivery of Meals on Wheels to Chestermere. A brochure and a menu were made available to attendees.

The Rotary Club of Chestermere, represented by Carey Hilgartner and Bill Quinney, quickly outlined the nature of their club's work. The representatives were quick to note that they provided for the ice cream and pie.

The dinner, the community, and the agencies were key signs of the good work being done in Chestermere.
