📢 Dear Valued Supporters,

🌟 We hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. We would like to extend our sincerest apologies for our prolonged absence from Facebook over the past six months.🗓️

As a small, primarily family-run organization, we encountered an unfortunate incident that not only impacted our personal lives but also had repercussions on our business operations.

In December, I was in a 🚗 accident that left me with a concussion 🤕, (among other bodily injuries), making it very difficult for me to keep up with the operations of our nonprofit. We want to assure you that while our online presence may have been temporarily diminished, our dedication to serving our community never wavered.

❤️‍🩹💪 Now, as I gradually recover and regain my strength, I am excited to share with you a series of posts over the upcoming weeks that will bring you up to speed with all of the events and projects we've been working on over the past 6 months.

Thank you for your patience and continued support. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻 We're grateful to have such a wonderful community behind us.

Warm regards,
Erika Cornish

Wow! What a day yesterday!
We once again served at Central United Church, Calgary Alberta. From the moment the doors opened, there was a nonstop flow of people for the first 2.5 hours. I’m sure we served over 200 people in those first 2.5 hours, with a total of around 250 in the 4 hours of service.
Once again, a huge thank you to everyone who made this day a success! 🙏🏻❤️
Because of the constant flow of people and a few less volunteers than some weeks, I only had the opportunity to snap shot a handful of pictures.
We are finding there are more and more people who are not exactly houseless, or at least may be experiencing their difficulties or houselessness differently than those we have traditionally encountered in the last few years of doing this type of ministry.
It’s just a reminder of the difficult times we are living in and how the rising costs of pretty much everything are affecting so many more people each and every day. I encourage everyone to be kind to whomever you may be in contact with, you never know what they might be facing no matter how ‘put together’ they may appear to look!

Sunday’s event at the Central United Church, Calgary Alberta was awesome. It is so heartwarming to see what can be accomplished when people come together to help others. We served around 200 people with the help of volunteers from the church and Angels In Action.
We served lazy man’s cabbage roll casserole, broccoli cheddar soup, baked cauliflower with marinara sauce, sandwiches, salad, fruit salad, pastries, juice, coffee, and lots of love. 😋
Thank you to everyone who helped make this delicious meal, hand out clothing, brought people in off the streets to get a meal, handed out pantry items, cleaned up and/or provided a listening ear and a warm smile to our guests. We could not do this without you! ❤️🙏🏻

We didn’t have too much food today, and a slightly over spiced chilli (compliments of yours truly 😖) but it still turned out to be a great afternoon at the Uptown Bottle Depot. Over 100 grateful people had their fill on this cool and dreary day. Thank you so much to our helpers who were able to make it out today. We truly couldn’t do it without you! ❤️
Please keep in mind warm clothing, blankets, gloves, socks, jackets, hats, etc.. it’s getting chilly out here! 🥶

Had another great Sunday at Central United Church. Yet again we were so caught up in the moment of serving about 150 people who came through yesterday that we only managed to snap a handful of pictures. But that’s ok! It is safe to say everyone left with full tummies! ❤️

Handed out 73 lunch bags yesterday to some very grateful and cold people.
The cooler weather and rain was a reminder of just how close winter is and how difficult it must be to have to spend your days out in that cold with minimal shelter or ways to warm yourself. We’ll continue doing what we do to provide nourishment for Calgary’s most vulnerable, but would love it if YOU would begin collecting gloves, socks, hats, sweaters, jackets, and blankets for us to be able to provide more warmth to those, we serve when handing out our lunches or serving up hot meals!

Well we’ve been a little off track lately with our posts and even worse with pictures! We forgot to get any pics last week when we served about 250 and only took a few of this weekend’s Thanksgiving dinner where we had the opportunity to dish out about 150 ham and scalloped potato dinners with veggies, salads, fresh fruit and pastries. It was a great event and we are so thankful for the opportunity to serve our unhoused friends. Hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving weekend too!

Had an awesome day out serving yesterday. Thank you to Randy with ANGELS IN ACTION Inc for setting this shared arrangement up with us. 🙏🏻❤️
We had the opportunity to serve out of Central United Church, as they are hoping to have their space used to provide some safety and comfort with a hot meal and some fresh clothing if needed to some of Calgary’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable populations. We had the opportunity to provide that hot meal with a ton of fresh fruit and pastries, cabbage soup, a macaroni goulash, tacos and/or breakfast. Thank you to Sherry Warford for bringing us some more clothing to provide our guests. Considering it was only their second Sunday open for this event we did not get as many guests as we are used to serving but we still have the opportunity to provide meals for around 50 people. It was really awesome to be able to work out of a kitchen and have the appropriate amount of space for our needs, which, on top of the meal we served, allowed us to make another 50+ lunches that our director Tiffany Tucker and her partner Owen Norman were able to hand out for us at the end of the day. Thank you so much you guys for helping all day and then serve on into the night handing those lunches out! ❤️

After taking a 2 week break from serving at Uptown Bottle Depot, we were back at it yesterday. Although a little short on volunteers and food, these guys made it happen for those waiting for their Sunday meal. We served about 100 people before running out of food just an hour and half in.
Glad we can be there for Randy when ANGELS IN ACTION Inc can not to make sure these folks never go hungry on Sunday afternoon. ❤️ Thank you again Hearts For Humanity for stopping in and making sure we were well supplied to serve our community here before going off and making sure more of the houseless had food for their bellies all over the city!
