Zoé Vallé and Alfred Ross Lightfoot were married on November 16, 1887. Alfred was from Mississippi and practiced law in Alabama and later NYC .

The Lightfoot Tower: Around 1904, Alfred commissioned the construction of a three-story, octagonal wooden observation tower on their property in Chester. He built it specifically to get a clear, unobstructed view of the yacht races and sailing activity in the harbour.
He died in 1911.

What a treasure to have his bible preserved in the library.

Hey , smart folks in Chester and around the world. We have a mystery here at the Library. Anyone recognize this fine looking gentleman?
Probably from the 1940’s - 50’s . Maybe Nova Scotian , maybe New England , Pennsylvania. Possibly a summer resident or politician. Yes we’ve run it through Google and Chat .
He’s on the wall of fame but we’d love to give him a name . Thanks . Prize to the winner. 🏆
