Sarana Institute is a Registered Charity, community-inspired organization. Sarana means “refuge or sanctuary” in Pali (an ancient language from the time of the Historical Buddha). Sarana means where we draw inner or spiritual strength and meaning. modern life can feel so isolating, and there’s often so much pressure (societally and self-imposed) to “optimize” our lives. of course, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to improve, but so many of us confuse constant self-criticism with growth.

Have you ever tried to create a daily self-care practice or shift the way you treat yourself, only to hit a wall? Or tried so many tools for growth, but still felt that quiet sense of “not enough” underneath it all? There’s a reason for that tension between what you want and what you actually feel, and it’s not just about willpower.

We’re excited to share a new offering from our Yana Young Adult Program: The Shift: Practices for Self-Worth, a free 8-week online course designed for young adults who are surfing the waves of life and looking for a little more ease, balance, and self-worth. This is our second round of The Shift, and whether or not you attended in October, we think you’ll get a lot out of this.

This iteration of The Shift focuses on cultivating self-worth from the inside out, using self-compassion as the foundation. Together, we’ll explore what self-worth actually feels like in the body, unpack the inner critic, and bring awareness to the protective patterns that formed to keep you safe. With our 21 Daily Practice Challenge, we’ll lean into practices that feel fulfilling and supportive, rather than shaming ourselves into change.

Over 8 weeks, participants will receive:
💫 Weekly live online classes (with recordings if you can’t attend live)
💫 Practical instruction and guided mindfulness practices
💫 Reflective journal prompts
💫 Community practice and peer support
💫 Access to a Signal chat to help integrate the material between sessions
