The Upper Thames Military Reenactment Society and the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority present the Battle of Longwoods on May 2nd and 3rd, 2026. Re-enactors from across North America come together to recreate military and camp life in Southwestern Ontario during the War of 1812. Enjoy tours, demonstrations, and a daily battle.

The gates will open May 2 and 3 from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. A variety of activities are available each day. There will be period merchants, and visitors can also take a self-guided tour of the Ska-Nah-Doht Village. Children’s games and rope making near the cabins will be available all day. In addition to the battle each afternoon, we will have demonstrations from the surgeon, a performance by the Crown Forces Drums, Artillery presentations, camp tours, and more!

Entrance per person is $10 for 13 years+, 12 years and under as well as military in uniform are free.

Our next meeting will be this Tueday March 24 at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 255 Tweedsmuir Ave West, Chatham at 7 PM.

The theme for this get-together will be “The Camera Things I Can’t Live Without.”
This meeting depends entirely on our member’s participation. We ask everyone to share a bit of their photography knowledge, whether it be a certain piece of equipment, a post processing technique, or an interesting place to photograph. If you are able, please prepare a short presentation and be ready to share it with the rest of us. Remember, you’re among friends here, don't be shy about speaking in front of the group.

Going along with this theme you can bring in camera gear you could live without and would like to sell.

We will again have our monthly feature Show And Tell, which will give everyone a chance bring on a thumb drive any digital photos you want to share in a non-competitive environment.
