Every Wednesday in September our Interpretive Guides will be in the park from 10-1pm offerring free interpretive walks along the trails and river...anticipating the sockeye's return. See you there!

It’s still too early for Sockeye to be found in Adams River, but the rain is sure helping bring the Sockeye home to Scotch Creek. Traditionally Scotch Creek return is now for another week or so, with Adams run starting in mid October. So make plans to come and visit and celebrate the sacred salmon. Three summers ago, large swathes of the watershed were decimated by the Bush Creek East wildfire. The fire forced 8,000 people to evacuate, destroyed 270 properties, and caused $240 million in damage, leaving a barren vista of burned trees in its path.

Out of the ashes, a determined group of partners came together to restore this vital salmon watershed, home to a world-famous sockeye run that draws tens of thousands of visitors each year.

Our friends with are in the process of installing the 2026 Scotch Creek fish fence - used by their fisheries team and river guardians to track and count the return of the sockeye into Scotch Creek. The salmon are now in the Fraser watershed making their way back. When you pass the team working on the river please take caution and slow down when driving by.
