PEI Ground Search and Rescue stands with our fellow first responders, the Island EMS family, and the loved ones of Paramedics Mike and Jenna as we honour their lives, service, and sacrifice as they are escorted home today.

Please be advised of the procession passing through our communities on the island. See the Atlantic 911 Ride post below for details.

The members of P.E.I. Ground Search and Rescue extend our deepest condolences to everyone affected by today’s tragic incident involving Island EMS. Our thoughts are with their families and loved ones, as well as their colleagues and all those impacted.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic motor vehicle collision involving two of our paramedics and the patient in their care.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. Out of respect for those involved and their loved ones, we ask that our community honour those affected without speculation, but instead with compassion and patience as they navigate the difficult days ahead.

We appreciate all of the outreach from the community. Our focus is on the families, friends, and colleagues of those who have been impacted by this tragedy. Our thoughts are also with the driver involved in the collision and their family during this difficult time.

Summer has finally arrived here on PEI! Stay safe while you’re enjoying the sun ☀️

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Prince Edward Island over the next few days.

Here is your quick checklist to stay safe, cool, and healthy:

👗 Dress Light: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing. Don't forget a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses to block those rays!
🧴 Lather Up the SPF: Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) to all exposed skin. Reapply every two hours, or more often if you're swimming or sweating.
🌡️ Stay Informed: Keep an eye on local weather forecasts and heat advisories. Learn the signs of heat-related illnesses and be prepared to act quickly if symptoms arise.
🍔 Practice Food Safety: Bacteria loves the heat! Keep perishable foods refrigerated below 40°F (4°C). Use insulated coolers with ice packs for groceries, and never leave food sitting out.
❤️ Check on Others: Look out for young children, the elderly, outdoor workers, those with chronic illnesses, and neighbors experiencing homelessness.
🚫 NEVER leave children or pets in a parked car. Even with the windows cracked, temperatures inside a vehicle can reach deadly levels in minutes.

Stay hydrated, seek shade, and look out for one another.
