Calling all 2 Spirit Individuals living in Epekwit. (Prince Edward Island)

Come join us from November 6th to 8th for the Peers Alliance and NCPEI Fall Retreat. We will be gathering together for a weekend of Rainbows, Relationship and Resilience with EXTRA special guest joining us :

MiqMaw Grandmothers JANE MEADER and MARLENE THOMAS

Along With

JANELLE NILES (Miqmaw 2 Spirit Comedian) and MC RAIN WARD (2 Bears Consulting) along with others!!

It will be a casual weekend, spending time together with a blend of cultural and art based activities available to participants. (Naming Ceremony / Smudge Feather box burning etc.)

The highlight of the weekend is our community showcase, where we have invited community and Rainbow allies to join us for dinner, a show and gathering together as community.

Although priority will be given to 2 Spirit / Indigiqueer Individuals living in PEI, Indigenous allies are welcome to apply.

For the October session of Charlottetown 2SLGBTQ+ Adult Drop-In at PEERS Alliance, we are welcoming back a fan favourite: improv! Special guest and seasoned improviser Jay Gallant, and newbie improviser Julie Bull will guide us. We will get silly, play, and have lots of laughs as they lead us through a bunch of improv games. No experience is needed. Just bring your silliness and willingness to play! You are also welcome to join us and to be entertained by your fellow community members if you’d prefer not to participate in the improv games. Wednesday, October 21, 6-8 PM at the Peers Alliance Office (250 B Queen Street).

PEERS Alliance and the Rainbow Elders are hosting a community art project as part of the Red Ribbon Path this year. We welcomes folks of all ages to be part of this special project!

Our project represent looking back on experiences during the times of the first Pride Parade on PEI and experiences of the most recent Pride Parade that happened this past July. Elders had shared how difficult things were during that first parade and in those years, and how much they have seen change for the better; how different our communities are now and the level of acceptance that has grown across the Island. The project aims to reduce HIV-related stigma, honour people living with HIV and those lost to HIV/AIDS, and support community-led HIV awareness and education.

All are welcome to take part, no experience is necessary and supplies will be provided. Rainbow Elders welcomes folks of all ages to participate.

Sunday October 18, 4-6pm
Participants will learn more about how art was used in HIV/AIDS activism and be guided on how to use the tools provided to make their own linocut!
These can be used to stamp images and text onto our community art project!
This workshop is free and materials are provided.
No prior experience necessary to participate, and all are welcome!

Participants will learn more about how art was used in HIV/AIDS activism and be guided on how to use the tools provided to make their own linocut!

Happening today Wednesday October 14 from 4-6pm!
We are hosting a community art activity as part of the Red Ribbon Path project! We will use the supplies provided to finish tie-dyeing the banner and start to add images and text. We will prepare for the linocut stamp making workshop on Sunday October 18 and Sunday October 25 by discussing imagery we associate with HIV/AIDS activism, the 2SLGBTQIA+ movement and Pride parades of the past and today.
No prior experience necessary to participate and all supplies are provided.

We will map out our design on the canvas banner.
Participants in this activity will help use elastic bands and the banner to make swirl shapes and other tie-dye patterns and then apply the dyes to the fabric.
No prior experience necessary to participate and all supplies are provided.

Wednesday October 14, 4-6pm
We will use the art supplies provided to start making images or writing text and also prepare for the linocut stamp making workshop on Sunday October 18 and Sunday October 25.
