This week, Women’s Network PEI joined fellow members of the ACT BIG Feminist Coalition in Ottawa to bring the call for a Guaranteed Livable Income directly to Parliament Hill.

Through conversations with MPs, coalition members shared why income security must be a priority and why we need bold, feminist policy solutions that reflect the realities of people across Canada. For women navigating low wages, caregiving responsibilities, and barriers to financial independence, the way we design our social safety net matters.

Lobbying is about making space for these conversations, connecting lived experiences with policy decisions, and keeping pressure on decision-makers to build a fairer future.

We’re leaving Ottawa with renewed energy for this collective work and gratitude for the organizations and advocates working together to make change possible. 💜

This week, ACT BIG Feminist Coalition group members from across Canada are in Ottawa meeting with Members of Parliament to discuss how a Guaranteed Livable Income could help strengthen income security for people and families across Canada.

Across the country, income insecurity is affecting more people than ever, making it harder to meet basic needs despite work or existing income supports. These challenges disproportionately affect women, especially single mothers, caregivers, and others who experience systemic barriers to financial security.

A Basic Income Guarantee should do more than alleviate poverty; it would provide the opportunity for individuals to fully participate in society with safety, independence, and self-determination.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Trade HERizons group to our tiny home builds! 🛠️🏡

From getting hands-on experience to learning new skills, it was great to have them join us on site and be part of the work happening in our community.

Creating opportunities for women to explore the skilled trades is an important part of building a stronger, more inclusive construction industry on PEI. We're glad to have had them join us! 💚💜

Our Still Visible program has a new coordinator - meet Julain Molnar!

Julain is thrilled to be putting on the Still Visible "hat" and is really looking forward to working with the great team at WNPEI.

A professional actor, singer and educator for the past 30 years, Julain has taught performing arts and life skills in dozens of venues to a very wide variety of people in many different places. She has developed and implemented education programs at institutions such as the National Theatre School, Holland College, and both the Charlottetown and Shaw Festivals, and has also enjoyed teaching privately for many years. Her specialties (and joys) include finding your authentic voice, performance anxiety, and artistic self-development.

The Community Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and delivering PEIRSAC’s prevention, education and outreach activities across Prince Edward Island. The position builds strong relationships with partners, delivers public education and awareness initiatives, and helps ensure PEIRSAC’s work is responsive and accessible to the diverse communities we serve.

Salary range is $62,400 to $68,250 plus benefits.

Janet comes to the Women’s Network with vast experience in the non-profit sector through case management, community outreach and client advocacy as a Social Service Worker in Ontario. She continues to expand her skill set through program facilitation and coordinating for numerous groups seeking life and employability skills across PEI.
