⚾ **This Day in Baseball PEI History** ⚾
After a bit of a hiatus, we are proud to bring back another edition of **This Day in Baseball PEI History**!
For this edition, we travel all the way back to **June 19, 1949**, when the **R.C.A.F. baseball team** took on the **Charlottetown Abbies** at Memorial Field in Island Baseball League action.
Behind strong pitching and heads-up baseball, the R.C.A.F. club secured a **6–4 victory** over the hometown Abbies, marking the team’s **first win in the Island Baseball League**.
For Charlottetown, **Buck Whitlock** and **Art Perry** led the way offensively, with both hitters going **2-for-4** with a triple and a single. For the victorious R.C.A.F. squad, **Labonte** had a standout day, driving in **four runs** while collecting **two hits** in four at-bats.
