Today was a bittersweet goodbye as we wrapped up our final therapeutic horticulture session with IRSA.

Our head gardener, Jeb, shared the importance of composting, what goes into making healthy compost, and how everyday items we already have at home can be given a new purpose in the garden. He then led the group into making a new compost pile, and explained how over the Winter everything will break down because of the freeze, thaw, freeze that happens, and then we will have beautiful compost for our goodwill garden. We were also able to see the different stages of composting, from the beginning to the end result.

As we learned about turning what’s old into something new, we were reminded that composting is a lot like life. Sometimes, we have to let go of the things that no longer serve us to make room for new growth. And sometimes, what we think is the end of something is simply the beginning of something else.

Thank you to IRSA for spending this season with us, sharing in the learning, laughter, and growth. We are so grateful for the time we’ve had together, and we hope you carry a little piece of the garden with you wherever you grow next.🥰

We were so happy to welcome IRSA back for our first Therapeutic Horticulture session of the fall! ❤️

We explored the garden in search of berries, picked fresh Arctic kiwis to enjoy as snacks, and made delicious cranberry sauce just in time for Thanksgiving weekend! 🥝🍒 A big thank you to Growers Station for providing the cranberries for our activity! 🍁

It was a wonderful day of connecting with nature, enjoying seasonal flavours, and sharing in the simple joys of the garden. We’re so happy to have IRSA back for another season! 🌱🧡

Today we celebrated our final session of the season with the TAJ Adult Day Program! We started the day by hanging the beautiful sign participants created for their trellis garden—a special finishing touch to a space they've worked so hard to grow and care for.

We then harvested the Swiss chard, lettuce, and radishes from their raised garden bed before spending some time picking fresh raspberries. To end the day, we harvested zucchini from the garden and baked delicious chocolate zucchini muffins together from scratch.

It's been amazing to watch participants plant, nurture, and harvest their own food while building confidence, learning new skills, and creating lasting memories. Thank you to everyone who joined us this season—we're so proud of everything you accomplished and can't wait to see you back in the garden again! 💚🌿🥬🫐🥒🧁
