Meet Your Restorative Justice Facilitator: Eliza MacLauchlan

Eliza is a Human Rights Officer with the PEI Human Rights Commission and has been a Restorative Justice Facilitator since the program launched in 2021.

Her experience working with individuals in conflict with the law, the criminal justice system, and the Indigenous Justice Program with the Mi’kmaq Confederacy of PEI sparked her curiosity about restorative approaches to addressing harm. After completing the initial training, she knew this was the right path for her.

“The most rewarding part of being an RJ Facilitator is witnessing the "magic moment." That moment for me is when two people move from a place of hurt to a place of understanding and accountability. While restorative justice isn’t right for every situation, it can be incredibly healing when it is.”

Coming up this Sunday, November 16!

isletunes is the podcast that plays nothing but music from Prince Edward Island artists – and host Adam-Michael James is celebrating its 100th episode with a live show benefitting Cooper Institute, which has been locally advocating for democracy for over four decades.

Jam to exclusive performances by Scott Parsons, Todd Maclean, Maxine MacLennan, Jay Diss, Julia Robichaud, Nathalie Duguay, Nicolás Romero, and Luka Hall - while amplifying diversity, inclusion, and human rights.

In addition, James will interview the artists and include his customary This Week in PEI History and Gigs to Dig segments – plus world premiere the music video to his own song, “You Coulda Had All This.” It's a night of fun and support – show up, stand up, and party up!

Get tickets now at trailside.ca, at Back Alley Music, or through the box office at 02-367-3311.

A portion of the proceeds will be divided amongst the performers as honorariums. For information about Cooper Institute, visit cooperinstitute.ca.
