One of the most common sorting mistakes? Corrugated VS Non-Corrugated Cardboard.
If it is corrugated (thick cardboard, typically three layers) - it goes into Blue Bag #1. This cardboard would commonly be found in:
📦 Moving Boxes
📦 Shipping Boxes
If it is non-corrugated (thin, easily-ripped cardboard) - you can just throw it in your green cart, because it is compost. An example of this type of cardboard would be:
📦Kleenex Boxes (don’t forget to remove the plastic from the middle!)
📦 Cracker Boxes
PRO TIP: When you rip a piece of non-corrugated boxboard that you suspect is compost - do you see a layer of plastic? If so, this means it is *not* compostable in PEI.
