This fund was created in response to what survivors across Nova Scotia have told us for years: navigating the legal system after sexualized violence can be overwhelming, expensive, and often out of reach.

Our fund offers a one-time $500 grant to survivors of sexual violence to help cover legal-related costs that can create barriers to accessing justice.

If this could be helpful to you or to someone you know, please share. More details are available on our website or at the link in our bio.

On December 6th, Cheticamp had its first vigil at the Place des pêcheurs to commemorate the loss of 14 women studying engineering at the École Polytechnique in Montreal, in 1989. We also shared thoughts on the 187 women and girls who were lost to violence in Nova Scotia in 2024, and the most recent cases this year. May these vigils strengthen our voices, our unity, and our commitment to end violence against women.

On the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (October 17), we recognize that history is also the story of resilience in the face of economic inequality.

One in six Canadians who menstruate have personally experienced period poverty.

The consequences of neglecting menstrual health needs, including basic access to menstrual products, have economic and social costs that are felt across society. Being able to afford and access menstrual products helps people stay in work and at school, preventing setbacks that can have lasting social and economic impacts.
