October is 2SLGBTQIA+ History Month.

2SLGBTQIA+ history is not only found in archives, legislation, or major public milestones. It also lives in people’s memories, relationships, chosen families, community spaces, acts of care, and everyday decisions to live authentically.

Older 2SLGBTQIA+ adults have witnessed and contributed to significant social change. Their experiences can help us understand both how far communities have come and why advocacy, safety, and inclusion are still needed.

Through No Place Like Home, Home Hospice Association is creating opportunities to listen, learn, and have meaningful conversations about aging, caregiving, grief, dying, and community care within 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

This month, we invite you to honour the people whose courage shaped our communities—and to help create a future where every person’s history, identity, and relationships are respected.

Through holistic programs, grief literacy education, and peer support, our Compassion in Action initiative helps address burnout, compassion fatigue, and unresolved grief.

Registration closes in 3 days... And you don't want to miss out on the free offer that comes with it!

Supporting someone through Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) can involve much more than understanding what happens during the provision itself. Professionals may encounter anticipatory grief, complicated family dynamics, values that differ from their own, questions about professional boundaries, legacy work and the vigil surrounding a person’s death.

MAiD Professional Development Training is a live, two-day online weekend certificate training, for professionals whose work intersects end-of-life care, that brings these parts of the work together. Through presentations, discussion, case scenarios and role-play, participants will explore:

- MAiD language, safeguards, process and experiences
- Reserving judgment while respecting personal values
- Grief before and surrounding a MAiD death
- Initial meetings and professional role boundaries
- Legacy building and vigiling
- Trauma-informed support
- MAiD across different communities, conditions and circumstances

Home Hospice Association extends heartfelt thanks to the Christina Mary Hendrie Trust for supporting Compassion in Action: Healing the Hearts of Caregivers who Support Veterans.

This multi-faceted initiative strengthens the mental health and well-being of caregivers who walk alongside veterans from terminal diagnosis through end-of-life. By addressing grief intensity, caregiver burnout, and long-term emotional resilience, the program provides structured grief literacy education, peer support, and accessible bereavement resources.

What if every community had someone who knew how to show up for Infant and Pregnancy Loss? At Home Hospice Association, we are trying to change that.

Today, we are officially introducing our Infant & Pregnancy Loss Support (IPLS) Scholarship!

With this Scholarship, we hope to increase access to our Certificate Program so that knowledge, language, and compassionate support can travel back into workplaces and communities.

At HHA, we know, and have seen, the ripple effect that learners can create once they taking our training. When learners take our training, they go on to be a part of meaningful change within their communities. Do you want to join them?

Have you heard the exciting news?

Our Infant & Pregnancy Loss Support Certificate Program has its next Intensive Training Weekend Cohort coming up soon!

This cohort is especially special. With this, we are launching our new Independent Study and Virtual Classroom, fit with 4 Milestones to complete through engaging, reflective and informative assignments and quizzes.

And lucky for you? This Certificate Program is offered completely online! We are lucky to have learners across Canada to interact and grow with, during your time with us.

The registration fee is $700. This registration fee includes access to a growing Virtual Classroom, a seat in our 2.5-day Intensive Weekend via Zoom, and an opportunity to GROW through Community Engagement Projects, either within your own community or with an HHA supported initiative! We also offer an accessible timeline of 1 year to complete your certificate requirements, with extensions available.
