June is National Electricity Month! ⚡

This month, we celebrate the people, innovation, and expertise that power our homes, businesses, and communities across Canada.

From engineers and line workers to industry leaders and technical specialists, the electricity sector continues to drive a reliable, resilient, and sustainable energy future.

As Ontario’s electricity needs continue to grow, the province is planning for the future, with electricity demand expected to increase by 75% by 2050 to support economic growth, electrification, and new technologies.

Do you experience pain or aches at work?

ReSTORE Lab's research found that 93.7% of electricians reported pain or aches in at least one body region, with the lower back, shoulders, and neck being the most commonly affected areas.

To better understand the physical demands of electrical work, ReSTORE Lab at the University of Toronto is conducting workplace observations with experienced electricians. By observing real work activities, we hope to identify high-risk work patterns and develop practical strategies to support worker health and well-being.

They are currently looking for electricians with 5+ years of experience to participate.

Participation involves:
✔ One workplace observation (minimum 6 hours)
✔ Scheduled at your convenience
✔ Optional video recording of work activities for ergonomic analysis

Last week, our Durham Chapter kicked off the summer with a wonderful afternoon of networking, connection (and friendly competition) at the Ajax Downs Racetrack.

From golf tournaments and brewery tours to horse racing and Chapter Meetings, activities hosted by our local Chapters provide valuable opportunities for Members to connect beyond the job site. These gatherings help foster stronger relationships at the local level, encourage the sharing of ideas and experiences, and strengthen the sense of community.

Wherever you are in Ontario, your Membership connects you to a local community and a province-wide network that is always within reach.

We'd love to see you at one of our local events this summer:
