Local Food Week is a time to recognize and celebrate the farmers, producers, and the agriculture and food businesses that form the backbone of Haldimand County’s economy and community identity. Agriculture is at the heart of who we are—supporting local jobs, strengthening our food supply, and ensuring fresh, high-quality food reaches tables across Ontario.

This week, we’re proud to highlight the dedication and hard work of our local agricultural community and encourage everyone to support local by shopping at farmers’ markets, choosing Ontario-grown products, and learning more about where our food comes from

Dave DeGrave saw more than just a new location when relocating to Dunnville — he saw opportunity, community, and a place that truly felt like home.

Drawn to the charm of Dunnville and the welcoming spirit of Haldimand County, he quickly fell in love with the area and recognized the incredible potential to grow his business, Hartzel Marine, here. This decision is another exciting example of businesses choosing Haldimand County as a place to build, expand, and thrive.

Join Dave and Hartzel Marine in celebrating their Grand Opening at their upcoming Open House on Saturday, May 30th from 1:00 - 4:00! We encourage residents, businesses, and visitors alike to come out, show their support, and help welcome Hartzel Marine to the community.

Haldimand County Council and staff recently participated in an educational tour at IESO - IESO - Ontario's Independent Electricity System Operator. During the tour, we met with key members of the IESO team to learn more about the important role municipalities play in planning for future energy needs. We also had the unique opportunity to view the IESO control room, where Ontario's power system is monitored and managed in real time.

It was a valuable opportunity to see firsthand how collaboration helps keep the lights on across Ontario. Experiences like this help ensure Haldimand County is prepared to support a reliable and sustainable energy future.
