It is with a great deal of sadness that we announce the indefinite cancellation of the Battle River Ride for STARS.

This event has always been about community, passion, and supporting the life-saving work of STARS Air Ambulance. We truly poured our hearts into trying to get things moving for the 2026 ride, but unfortunately, we just couldn't garner enough rider interest or donations to make the event sustainable.

To everyone who has saddled up, volunteered, or donated in the past: Thank you. You helped keep the rotors turning and hope in the air for so many. While this chapter is closing, our gratitude for your support remains as strong as ever.

Sincerely,
The Battle River Ride for STARS Board Members

Tanya is our cook. She slaves away so we all have an amazing meal after the ride, so give her a hand!

A dedicated community member with a lifelong passion for service, I have spent the past 24 years working as a chef, bringing people together through food. For the last five years, I have proudly volunteered as a cook for the Battle River Ride for Stars, an opportunity I took on after being invited by Henry, whom I have known for many years.
Beyond this, I actively volunteer with various organizations and stay deeply involved in my community. I am also a proud mom of four, raised with strong country roots that continue to shape my values of hard work and generosity.
Today, I balance my commitment to service by working as a school bus driver and with National Defence, continuing to support and care for others in meaningful ways every day.

As a member of our board, Randy takes on the role of rescue driver. He also helps with event setup and tear down, acts as a runner throughout the event, and spends a lot of time working to secure donations and silent auction items.

My name is Randy Morrison, and I am proud to serve as a board member for the Battle River Ride for STARS. This cause is very personal to me—after breaking my neck in a diving accident, I was flown by STARS. Because of that experience, supporting this ride and helping ensure STARS can continue saving lives means a great deal to me. 🚁

Khris has been contributing to our ride for several years now. She's been a great addition to the team!

As a board member of the Battle River Ride for STARS, this cause is very personal to me. My dad was a long-time supporter of STARS, and my husband was flown by them after breaking his neck in a diving accident, so I’ve seen firsthand how important their work is. I’m proud to support the ride by helping with setup and teardown, working behind the scenes with advertising and other organizing, and of course taking part in the ride itself. Being involved is my way of giving back and helping ensure STARS can continue providing lifesaving care when people need it most.

Many of you may recognize our fearless leader, Henry Thomas. He's usually running 30 different directions at once. Take a minute to say hi to Henry!

Henry thomas has been involved with the Battle River Ride for Stars for 14 years. He joined to help with the original organizers Carol Thomas and Marilyn Polege. Henry is actively involved with beekeeping and also works in the oil patch. Henry was born and raised in the Paintearth County and still has family there. The ride has been a big part of his spring and summer, with planning and organizing with friends and family to make sure everyone has a safe and fun time while on the trail.

Ashley Schofer has been a great part of our team, helping out with the set up and tear downs, sorting and displaying the silent auction and merch sales, among many other things. Please give her a warm welcome!

I'm new to Castor, but I've been involved with the ride for 4 years now. I volunteer my time for this ride each year as it's for a great cause with Stars air ambulance and also I enjoy the horses and of course meeting new people.
