Hey all,
Here is some exciting updates for everyone that attended the Gala in 2023 for the nonprofit,
9 Make A Difference Foundation!
After that night there was so many emotions of gratitude for the community who helped make the event a success and everyone that attended and help raise an incredible $21,977.89!
I’m not going to lie this was overwhelming. Can I really achieve this vision to make a difference. The responsibility, the commitment, the worry, the self-doubt and to add to the mix the grief! When you now have to make decisions without the person you would usually voice to or bounce ideas off. So for the first year I realized through many simultaneous events that were happening that in order to make this foundation a success I would have to seriously do some self reflection and personal growth. Facing my grief journey and self discovery to feel like my authentic self again. To gain the confidence to make a difference to others. So that has been the focus to start because It takes a lot to look at your insecurities and work on them for a bigger purpose.
Then we needed a certain amount of board members to build the foundation and it felt important that some of those members have first responder backgrounds to give insight into that world. Research into and attending different first responder events around Alberta has brought lots of new connections and possible collaborations for the future. It also secured our final board members to allow the correct paperwork to now get filled out and sent off to the Alberta Society.
Now to the most recent updates, there is now officially a website www.9MakeADifference.com and social pages www.instagram.com/9MakeADifference and Facebook.com/9MakeADifference are currently being added too. They have lots of information on there about things that have been happening with 9MAD and honouring Stephen Rayfield at the Fallen firefighter memorial wall in Ottawa.
Going forward we have future events that I will be attending to present more information on 9 Make A Difference to help achieve our goals of making a difference to more people. Also some podcasts I will be part of See more information and updates on the website.
