I met John and his wife Amelia on occasion while I was working on the Rail Trail doing maintenance and patrols near Farron years ago. He was a man with many stories of long forgotten times along the Columbia & Western Railway. On one particular day the trail society wanted to do a history sign on the Farron Summit. I contacted John and asked him if he was interested to be interviewed for an upcoming interpretive sign which would be located at Farron along the trail. He agreed to meet me and Walter Volovsek a local historian who was also involved in the context and development of all the interpretive signage you see along the rail trail. We are gifted to have many photos displayed at the Farron Summit interpretive sign that John to share with us https://www.castlegarnews.com/obituaries/john-peterson-7835838

John lived well into his 92nd year, and so, despite our grief, we are proud and grateful that he was able to live a long and healthy life, full of passion, energy and character to his final days.
