PARKLAND RCMP SEEK INFORMATION SURROUNDING JACKFISH LAKE BOATING CRASH

August 27, 2026

The Parkland RCMP is asking the public for information surrounding a boating crash that took place yesterday which left one person seriously injured.

Police say that at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, they received a 911 crash notification originating from Jackfish Lake. The notification had the sound of a boat engine running but no other communication was transmitted.

Through investigation, police spoke with two people who reported that their inflatable boat had been hit by a Sea-Doo travelling at a “high rate of speed” across the lake. The crash threw both occupants from the boat into the water, with one of the two sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries as a result.

The operator of the Sea-Doo is described as being a male in his mid to late 20s. He had a fair complexion with a stocky build, with brown curly or wavy hair and facial hair.

RCMP are looking to identify the male operating the Sea-Doo in this collision. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has further information related to the crash is asked to contact the Parkland RCMP at 825-220-7267. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
