‼️URGENT DONATIONS NEEDED (Don’t worry - they aren’t for Ollie ♥️)

This week at Ruff Start Animal Rescue, our team was faced with one of those moments rescue people know all too well. We had planned to stay on an intake freeze until March but then we were alerted to a situation involving two dogs living in very unsafe conditions. Once we saw what was happening, there was simply no way we could say no.

Because of the nature of the situation, we cannot share photos or identifying details right now for their safety. What we can share is this:
They are safe.
They are warm.
They are in loving foster homes.
And they are already starting to decompress.

Both dogs now need full veterinary care—vaccines, deworming, and spay/neuter—and one will require surgery. These were completely unexpected expenses during a month that has already brought several urgent intakes, along with dogs arriving in March that we had previously committed to helping.

We will make sure every dog gets what they need—no matter what—but our emergency fund is taking a significant hit, and we need your help rebuilding it.

For everyone who has followed us and supported our rescue……

Rescued two babies yesterday! They are much more relaxed and happy now! One went to his foster and one is being fostered with us! For those of you who know me knew I wasn’t going to stay away from rescue for long! I am now working with Ruff Start Animal Rescue Foundation! Head on over and like their page and please donate if you can! Tabitha has a big heart especially for the older dogs or the ones with special needs! I am very happy to be helping her on this adventure and have seen so many dogs she has brought in who would likely be euthanized, end up in amazing homes and get the proper vet care they need! We’re super excited to announce that we are teaming up with Adrenalin Motors Carstairs this year for the Carstairs Car Show! We’re taking it over because this car show has become such a fun event in our community and we absolutely love doing it, and this year the charity we will be supporting with be Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society Outreach! Dates and location will be announced in the new year, so stay tuned! We're going to start working on some paperwork, getting everything organized, and putting together a team to make this the best car show yet. Can’t wait to see everyone there!

Well we have some news………

After losing our Carstairs rescue headquarters in 2022, our ongoing attempts at finding a new building within our price range or one that will allow animals have come up empty. Due to this, we are forced to make the very tough decision of closing Pawsitive Haven Animal Rescue permanently😞 We have been exploring all the options for the past little while, however Sheena and Ashley have decided that this is best, although it is the hardest decision.

We would like to remember all of the amazing animals that we helped rescue over the last 6 years! It all started with a little Dachshund named Willow and that very quickly grew into us buying kennels, and rescuing over 2000 dogs and cats! This included spaying, neutering, vaccinating and ensuring that they all found amazing homes!
We want to thank every single person who walked into our doors to help! Whether it was to drop off a donation, walk dogs or change a litter box, you helped make a difference in those animals lives and we couldn’t be more grateful! These animals have touched many lives and changed them forever in such a way we will be forever grateful!

With that being said, we understand that our annual Show & Shine has become a big part of our community. We would like to continue that tradition with each year’s funds being donated to a deserving charity. We want to make this event bigger and better each year as we help support some of the amazing charities in our community!
We will be looking for people to work with who will be able to assist us in putting the show together as it is a lot of work but just as much fun! We never want to stop giving back to the community who gave so much to us! So if you want to get involved or have a group that would like to help raising funds for their cause, please reach out to Ashley Chopping directly and pm her so that your messages don’t get lost.

This Rescue has taught us so much over the years, and being able to work with animals has and always will be our passion! We hope that in the future we will have more time. Maybe a building will come available which that will allow us start again. For the time being, we have to take a step back.

Again, thank you all so much for your kindness, unwavering support, endless love, unlimited time and for loving rescue animals as much as we do!

Please note, we will leave this page open to help share other rescues adoptable animals in hopes that we can still help them find great furever homes!

Cosmetic + Fine Line Tattoo for collecting a massive load of donations for the dogs of Ruff Start Rescue Society and Pawsitive Haven Animal Rescue 🐾 This amazing lady was working her butt of the entire day at the 6th Annual Pawsitive Haven Show N Shine and collected ALL these donations. We were so grateful to join everyone this year is this amazing event!
